NEW: Joe Kent announces his resignation from the Trump admin over war with Iran, claiming Israeli influence and military industrial complex.
___
There are many false claims in this letter but let me address one specifically: that "Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation."
This is the same false claim that Democrats and some in the liberal media have been repeating over and over.
As President Trump has clearly and explicitly stated, he had strong and compelling evidence that Iran was going to attack the United States first.
This evidence was compiled from many sources and factors. President Trump would never make the decision to deploy military assets against a foreign adversary in a vacuum.
Iran is the worldโs leading state sponsor of terrorism.
The Iranian regime is evil. It proudly killed Americans, waged war against our country, and openly threatened us all the way up to the launch of Operation Epic Fury.
Iran was aggressively expanding their short-range ballistic missiles to combine with their naval assets to give themselves immunity โ meaning they would have a degree of a capabilities that would give them immunity to hold us and the rest of the world hostage.
The regime aimed to use those ballistic missiles as a shield to continue achieving their ultimate goal โ nuclear weapons.
The President, through his top negotiators, gave the regime every single possible opportunity to abandon this unacceptable course by permanently giving up their nuclear ambitions in exchange for sanctions relief, free nuclear fuel, and potential economic partnerships with our country.
But they would not say yes to peace because obtaining nuclear weapons was their fundamental goal.
President Trump ultimately made the determination that a joint attack with Israel would greatly reduce the risk to American lives that would come from a first strike by the terrorist Iranian regime and address this imminent threat to Americaโs national security interests.
All of this led to President Trump arriving at the determination that this military operation was necessary for U.S. national security, which is why he launched the massively successful Operation Epic Fury.
The Commander-in-Chief determines what does and does not constitute a threat, because he is the one constitutionally empowered to do so - and because the American people went to the ballot box and entrusted him and him alone to make such final judgments.
And finally, the absurd allegation that President Trump made this decision based on the influence of others, even foreign countries, is both insulting and laughable. President Trump has been remarkably consistent and has said for DECADES that Iran can NEVER possess a nuclear weapon.
As someone who actually witnesses President Trumpโs decision-making process on a daily basis, I can attest to the fact that he is always looking to do whatโs in the best interest of the United States of America โ period.

Florida: A Tampa Police Department Sergeant is recovering after being struck by a car while directing traffic near Raymond James Stadium just after midnight. Police say the sergeant was working post-concert traffic wearing a reflective vest and directing vehicles when a sports car drifted from the center lane into the outside lane and hit him. The officer was rushed to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. As of Sunday morning, heโs stable and in good spirits. The 44-year-old driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators. He was cited for careless driving causing serious bodily injury. Investigators say speed and impairment do not appear to be factors in the crash. Praying that the sergeant has a full and speedy recovery. ๐๐ป

Many brave entrepreneurs invest their life savings to open a business and provide job opportunities. Santa Monica's mayor and vice mayor say, "Santa Monica is open for business." We ask, "For whom?" Has the mayor or vice mayor ever operated a business or struggled to make payroll? FITCH Rating Outlook has downgraded Santa Monica to "NEGATIVE" from "STABLE" based on changing economic trends and performance. Would YOU invest in Santa Monica for your own retirement fund if it were a stock?

However, "no imminent threat" was never the standard. This was a nuclear threshold call not a counterterrorism warrant.

Historic Reformations at your FBI in 13 months-
Under President Trumpโs leadership weโve rebuilt this FBI into a faster, more effective, more accountable machine focused on protecting American citizens and crushing violent crime all over the country. But many of the reforms weโve implemented are things some Americans may have never read about:
-Expanded biometric collection overseas with foreign partners to intercept targets before they reach the Homeland - essential for national security and staying ahead of the threat
-Eliminated politicized threat-banding (i.e. white supremacy) & prioritized real overseas & domestic threats โ aligning w/ NSPM-7. No more political targeting
-Sent 1,000 agents to the field & implemented a first-of-its-kind LE training to take resources out of the DC swamp and put them back where they belong, in Main Street America
-Sending hundreds of IAs and staff into the field from DC, supporting our 1811 redeployment
-Increased funding for & doubling the size of drone mitigation teams by 100โs - critical as drone technology advances
-Tasked with and successfully executed with our interagency partners to protect Americans at international Special Events like F1, Super Bowl, Club World Cup, and Olympics - all in preparation for World Cup 2026 here in the U.S.
-Creation of the 1st C-UAS school for local law enforcement based on President Trumpโs EO - a historic first of its kind school to help train our partners
-Increased funding for the Threats Screening Center (TSC), the FBIโs 24/7 call/data center that allows us to quickly identify threat actors and their activity to stay ahead. One of the first things we did when I was sworn in as Director was to strengthen the TSC's focus on border security and threats abroad
-Brought in SACs to reform IA & SOS intel positions โ all to meet fieldโs intel support needs, so FBI field offices are driving operations with intelligence.
-Built AI working groups to initiate first test use of AI to assist in processing volumes of Nat Sec intel collections โ making sure weโre prepared to harness AI to protect Americans
-Totally revamped and rebuilt the FBIโs Domestic Investigations and Operations Guide (DIOG) โ the FBIโs primary operations and policy document โ reducing volume by 40%, speeding up processes to allow FBI personnel on the front lines to move quicker and be more responsive to the American people
-Rebuilt the outdated Strategic Information & Operations Center (SIOC) into the Directorโs Strategic Information Center (DSIC) โa massive overhaul of the FBI's operational command and control node refocusing the FBI on high-speed, rapid dissemination of information. We now coordinate better, faster, and more effectively with partners than ever before.
-Partnerships with private sector technology leaders to rebuild our back-bone infrastructure systems- no more short fixes. Sustained, durational construction of new ecosystems to meet the modern times.
