Please, pray for the Pasco Sheriff’s Office deputy who was shot in the line of duty this afternoon.🙏🏻

Florida: Pasco Sheriff’s Office deputies are investigating a deputy-involved shooting in the Davista Ave. and Sawtell St. area of New Port Richey that resulted in the death of an adult man, and the shooting of one adult man, one adult woman, and one deputy. Prior to law enforcement arrival, the subject, Aaron Rodriguez (DOB: 3/15/93), shot an adult man who was pronounced deceased at the scene. The caller, an adult woman, reported being shot by the Rodriguez as well. Preliminary information suggests this dispute was regarding property use.

Upon arrival, PSO deputies immediately located Rodriguez inside a nearby garage. Numerous attempts were made to de-escalate the situation through verbal engagement by multiple deputies, however, Rodriguez remained armed and refused to comply with commands, resulting in an exchange of gun fire with deputies. One deputy was shot by Rodriguez. Rodriguez was ultimately struck by deputies returning fire. Deputies detained Rodriguez and secured the gun. Rodriguez, along with the female victim and the deputy, were transported to a local hospital for their injuries. The deputy’s K9 partner sustained no injuries during the incident. The deputy has non-life threatening injuries.

Chicago: One person was hospitalized in serious condition after a police-involved shooting on the city's Northwest Side on Monday evening, officials said.

Chicago police said the shooting happened in the Humboldt Park neighborhood's 800-block of North Homan Avenue.

Police said an offender is in custody, a weapon was recovered, and no officers were injured.

UPDATE: An off-duty Philadelphia police officer has died following a crash while riding his personal motorcycle in the city's Fox Chase neighborhood.

The crash happened around 5 p.m. Sunday along the 8500 block of Verree Road. Police say the officer's motorcycle collided with another vehicle. Sources tell Action News the driver of that vehicle was making a U-turn at the time. The driver remained at the scene, and no citations have been issued.

The officer, who had been with the department since 2021 and was assigned to the 18th District, was transported to the medical examiner's office on Monday afternoon in a police escort.

Further details have not been released.

BREAKING: Rep. Kevin Kiley to leave Republican Party, run as independent.

Northern California Congressman Kevin Kiley said he did not give GOP leadership in Washington a heads-up that he planned to leave the party and run for re-election as a “no party preference” candidate. Kiley announced on Monday that he'll be an independent for the remainder of his term in Congress. Kiley now represents the 3rd Congressional District, which was split into parts of six districts after voters passed Proposition 50. Earlier this month, Kiley announced he would run for re-election in District 6, which includes Roseville, Rocklin, and Orangevale. He’ll face off against Democrats that include former State Sen. Dr. Richard Pan, Sacramento County District Attorney Thien Ho, West Sacramento Mayor Martha Guerrero, and Republican Christine Bish. The longtime Republican told reporters on Monday that he didn’t speak with "party leadership or anyone associated with either party" before making his decision for an independent candidacy.
