Last night we had the chance to cheer on Tyler Martin, the son of fallen Houston Police Officer Richard Martin, as he played baseball for the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in what was his final game in the Houston area.
Tyler had a strong group in the stands supporting him, including retired Captain Paul Follis, retired Lt. Rebecca Follis, HPOU Vice President Tim Whitaker, HPOU Executive Director Ray Hunt, and Tylerβs sister Cynthia.
It was a great night of baseball and a good reminder that the families of our fallen heroes remain part of our law enforcement family. We were proud to be there supporting Tyler. πβΎπΊπΈ

BREAKING: The shooter who fired at officers after fleeing a border checkpoint is identified by DPS as James Douglas McMillan, 33, of Greenfield, Wisconsin and was driving a stolen car from Arizona, Brooke Taylor reports.
According to DPS, around 10:30 am, McMillan fled a checkpoint along I-10 in Sierra Blanca after a USBP drug K-9 alerted to the vehicle and agents directed McMillan to pull over for a secondary search. He led officers on a high speed chase and began shooting out the window at DPS Troopers, other responding law enforcement from the Culberson Co. Sheriffβs Office, Hudspeth Co. Sheriffβs Office, Border Patrol Tactical Unit (BORTAC) and indiscriminately at civilian vehicles.
As law enforcement returned fire, DPS Troopers performed a precision immobilization technique (PIT) maneuver and successfully stopped the suspect car. McMillan barricaded himself in his car and eventually pointed his weapon towards officers β officers then discharged their weapons. He was then shot and killed by law enforcement. No law enforcement officers or civilians were injured.

Kentucky: A fatal two-vehicle crash Tuesday night in Boyle County claimed the life of one man and left a sheriffβs deputy injured. The collision occurred just before 9:30 p.m. on March 3 at the intersection of Hustonville Road and West Shelby Street, according to Kentucky State Police.
Preliminary reports indicate that Boyle County Deputy Zach King was traveling northbound and attempting to turn left onto West Shelby Street when the crash occurred. Investigators say a southbound vehicle driven by 27-year-old Michael Mingey of Lancaster entered the intersection at the same time. Authorities believe Mingey disregarded a traffic control device before colliding with the deputyβs vehicle.
Emergency responders arrived quickly and transported both drivers to a nearby hospital. Mingey later died from injuries sustained in the crash.
Deputy King was treated for injuries described as non-life-threatening. No additional details about his condition have been released. Please join us in sending prayers and, or positive thoughts for his recoveryππ»
