A former Denton police officer, Urbano Rodriguez Jr., who was critically injured in a 2019 shooting, was gifted a fully ADA-compliant, mortgage-free smart home in Aubrey through the Tunnel to Towers Foundation’s Smart Home Program. The home includes accessibility features and smart technology to aid his recovery. Despite ongoing challenges with workers’ compensation coverage for therapy, Rodriguez expressed gratitude for the support from the foundation and his community.
