NEW: 3 DEAD, including the suspect, and 1 in CRITICAL condition following violent crime spree in Madison County, Texas.
Around 7:50 a.m., deputies were called to Fraley’s Food Store in Midway for an aggravated robbery call. When they arrived, they found a woman with multiple gunshot wounds. She was rushed to St. Joseph Health Regional Hospital in critical condition.
Investigators say she and the suspect knew each other and had previously been in a relationship.
Authorities say the suspect fled in a stolen pickup. DPS later spotted the truck on FM 1119, and after a short pursuit that ended with a PIT maneuver, the suspect was taken into custody and booked into the Madison County Jail.
But the situation didn’t end there.
During the jail intake process, officials say the suspect became unresponsive. Lifesaving measures were started immediately, but he was later pronounced dead at the jail. The Texas Rangers have been called in to conduct an independent investigation into the in-custody death. That's all we know about the situation at the jail.
As the morning unfolded, deputies were also called to FM 2346, where they found a deceased man with multiple gunshot wounds.
A short time later, a second deceased man was found in the same area. Investigators say evidence links the same suspect from the earlier incident to both of those homicides.
In total, four scenes are now under investigation, with the Madison County Sheriff’s Office and the Texas Rangers working together.
Authorities say more information will be released as it becomes available.

Coweta County K9 Robbie was hit by a vehicle while trying to apprehend a fleeing suspect. K9 Robbi sustained minor abrasions as a bank was unfolding.. K9 Robbi despite being hit continued the pursuit and successfully in taking the into custody. After being seen by a vet, K9 Robbi is now home resting before returning to duty.
The Sheriff’s office said "we couldn’t be more proud of K9 Robbi and all of our K9 Deputies for the incredible dedication and service they provide to our community every single day." Prayers for K9 Robbi's continue recovery.
