Newsom claims "California leads the nation." Admittedly, he has a point.

California leads the nation in fraud.
California leads the nation in poverty.
California leads the nation in illiteracy.
California leads the nation in gas prices.
California leads the nation in debt.
California leads in unemployment.
California leads in homelessness.
California leads in electricity rates.
California leads in housing costs.
California leads the nation in U-Haul rentals.

⚠️When thousands of people flood into a city for a major event, public safety and human trafficking prevention efforts intensify.

This weekend the Super Bowl heads to Levi's Stadium in San Francisco. While no definitive data shows trafficking spikes specifically because of the Super Bowl, large influxes of visitors can create opportunities for traffickers to exploit vulnerable individuals.

Large events like the Super Bowl bring excitement and celebration, but they also require collective vigilance to protect vulnerable people. You can make a difference by:

🏈 Report any suspicions of trafficking to 911 immediately, or call the tips hotline at 1-888-373-7888.

🏈 Learning the signs of exploitation to identify and report potential trafficking.

🏈 Sharing resources with friends, family, and fellow fans traveling to Super Bowl LX.

🏈 Supporting local and national outreach efforts aimed at education, prevention, and survivor care.

NEW: Hundreds of teens took over an L.A. home and threw a party that was busted by the police on Saturday night.

Video sent in by a resident who lives near the home, located on the corner of Quartz Avenue and Strathern Street in the San Fernando Valley neighborhood of Winnetka, shows police arriving at the property and opening a gate, telling those inside to leave as a helicopter circled overhead.

The attendees did so without much incident, but the sheer number of them – the resident said it was β€œlike 300 minors” β€” made for a wild sight.

Los Angeles County has no room for predators. That’s why the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office (LADA) joined a statewide initiative that removed nearly 200 alleged criminals off the street.

This week, District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman joined Sheriff Robert Luna and partners from federal, state, and local law enforcement to announce the results of Operation Reclaim and Rebuild, an annual statewide initiative by more than 80 agencies to end human trafficking. In one week, law enforcement arrested more than 600 suspected traffickers and sex buyers/exploiters (Johns) in total. Officers rescued 170 victims, including 14 children.

Despite the successes of this operation, the work does not end here. LADA will continue to prosecute these cases year-round, employing stronger tools to protect the most vulnerable members of our community.

Please, pray for the Arizona State trooper who was shot in the line of duty tonight.πŸ™πŸ» At least one Department of Public Safety trooper was shot in central Phoenix Thursday evening, sources tell Arizona’s Family. Details are extremely limited, but sources…
UPDATE: Police have identified the man accused of shooting a state trooper, and hurting three others during a SWAT operation in central Phoenix on Thursday evening.

Darelle Belle, 51, is facing 18 counts of attempted murder along with several other felony charges.

Authorities say SWAT troopers were serving a β€œhigh-risk search warrant” at the A & F Trailer and RV park near 24th Avenue and Indian School Road, just east of Interstate 17 at about 7 p.m.

According to DPS, troopers were looking for Bell when two women saw the troopers approaching and ran inside to warn him. Officials said Bell has an extensive criminal record of drug and weapons-related charges.
β€œAlmost immediately following, the suspect began to fire rounds at our SWAT officers. SWAT officers returned fire. During the exchange of gunfire, one of our sergeants was hit in the shoulder by a round, and he also was wounded in the bicep,” DPS Sgt. Kameron Lee said.

Lee said it’s unknown if the bicep injury was from shrapnel or a bullet.

Three other troopers were also hit by shrapnel as they returned fire, striking Bell, who was later sent to the hospital.
