Earlier today, I shared the results of the twelfth annual Operation Reclaim & Rebuild, led by the Los Angeles Regional Human Trafficking Task Force in partnership with more than 80 federal, state, and local agencies.

Together, we remain committed to rescuing victims, connecting survivors to critical services, holding traffickers accountable, and reducing the demand that drives these crimes.

The week-long operation resulted in 14 juvenile rescues, 156 adult rescues, 93 felony arrests, and 518 misdemeanor arrests.

Human trafficking has no place in our communities, and this operation sends a strong message that it will not be tolerated in California.

This afternoon the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office released the name of the deputy who was shot multiple times during a traffic stop on January 31, 2026.

Sherriff Watkins said:

“Deputy Jack Evans, 24, was sworn in with the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office on January 3, 2023. Deputy Evans has served with professionalism, dedication, and a strong commitment to public safety since the day he took his oath. He has already earned numerous awards in his time here at PCSO.

Deputy Evans remains under medical care but is in good spirits and has a long road to recovery. Deputy Evans sustained gunshot wounds to both of his legs and his torso. We ask the community to keep Deputy Evans, his loved ones, and all first responders involved in their thoughts.

The investigation is ongoing and being conducted by the Peoria Police Department. Additional information will be released as it becomes available and as the investigation allows.”

COP STABBED: A Gallup Police Department, NM Sergeant and a woman were stabbed in separate incidents last month.

Sergeant Matthew Graham responded to a call at a Sporting Goods Store, where he was stabbed while taking a suspect into custody. He's been released from the hospital. A woman was also attacked by the same suspect at another location and is receiving treatment. The suspect has been arrested and charged.
