BREAKING: 2 Army battalions put on standby for possible deployment to Minnesota
Two battalions from the 11th Airborne Division have been put on alert for a potential deployment to Minnesota, according to two defense officials.
One official said the president has not made a final decision whether to deploy the battalions. The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
"We are taking prudent steps to prepare active-duty Army forces," the official said. "This doesn't mean they will deploy; we are preparing options."
President Donald Trump on Thursday threatened to invoke the Insurrection Act to send in the U.S. military as tensions intensified in Minneapolis following a second shooting involving a federal officer during immigration operations. However, Trump later told reporters he didn't think there was "any reason right now to use it."

The Baker County Sheriff’s Office would like to provide an update regarding the deputy involved in the officer-involved shooting.
The deputy has been released from the hospital and is now home with his family. Sheriff Scotty Rhoden is thankful that the deputy’s injuries were not serious and is grateful for the outpouring of support and prayers.

Tennessee: On January 17, 2026, Officer Sergeant Domingo Davaloz was injured during a struggle with Joseph Edward Farmer, one of five suspects linked to multiple vehicle thefts across Tennessee.
Farmer allegedly put Davaloz in a headlock, causing cuts and neck injuries, but the officer recovered after hospital treatment. Please join us in sending prayers and, or positive thoughts for the officer's recovery🙏🏻
The others arrested were charged with theft and drug-related offenses. A total of three stolen vehicles were recovered and returned to their owners.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Human Trafficking Task Force (HTTF) joined our community at the In-N-Out Slave2Nothing Foundation event in Redondo Beach, bringing awareness and education on all forms of human trafficking.
HTTF engaged with attendees, sharing vital resources, and having meaningful conversations with the public about the forms of exploitation- sex trafficking, labor trafficking/wage theft, involuntary servitude.
This event allowed the community to come together and learn more about human trafficking, not only to educate but to show those who may be affected, there is support within reach.
We thank @slave2nothingfoundation and all our community partners for creating a space that empowers individuals to make informed choices and stand against exploitation. Together, we remain dedicated to protecting our most vulnerable.

Texas: Today, at about 1:39 am, a 25-yr-old wrong way driver (Julio Alberto Calero Ramirez) was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of the Tomball Parkway (21600 block) near Jones.
Julio collided head-on with another driver traveling southbound. As a result of the collision, that 2nd vehicle became fully engulfed in flames
Julio sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased on-scene. The 2nd driver sustained major injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment.
Kudos to everyone that acted swiftly and heroically to assist the man in the burning vehicle; including our deputies and wrecker drivers.
Three of our deputies sustained minor injuries while attempting to remove the driver of the burning vehicle. They were evaluated by EMS on-scene and did not require transport.
