Today, we stood together as a department as we honored the life and service of Officer Michael Miles. Surrounded by his family, friends, his brothers and sisters in blue and members of the community, we reflected on a legacy defined by courage, compassion and an unwavering commitment to protecting others.

Officer Miles showed up every day with a genuine desire to make our community a better place. He was guided by a deep sense of duty, serving in our Freedom Division for 13 years, both on patrol and as a training officer, and serving his country as U.S. Marine before that. His impact will continue to guide us in the way we serve and support one another.

Rest easy, Officer Miles. ๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ–ค

BYE BYE, BOB!

After an incredible 45-year career in law enforcement, today we say goodbye to Bureau Chief Bob Stef, who is officially retiring from the Arapahoe County Sheriffโ€™s Office, Colorado.

Bob began his career in 1980 at just 22 years old. For perspective, that was the year Mount St. Helens erupted, and John Lennon of the Beatles was killed.

Bob was born in California and at the age of 14, moved to Aurora with his parents and three siblings. He graduated from Gateway High School and Regis University (Regis College back then), majoring in Business Administration. He was also a standout baseball player. His law enforcement career began when the Arapahoe County Sheriffโ€™s Office hired him to work in the jail. He didnโ€™t stay long, though. In 1981, he joined the Englewood Police Department, where he spent 10 years working patrol, as a motorcycle officer, and a detective.

In 1991, Bob joined the Aurora Police Department, where he would spend the next 26 years. During his time there, he worked patrol, served as a Public Information Officer, and rose through the ranks to Captain. In 2005, he worked the infamous Aarone Thompson case, involving the disappearance of a six-year-old girl whose parents were later arrested for her murder. Bob also responded to the Aurora Theatre Shooting in July of 2012.

Bob retired from Aurora PD in 2018, shifting his focus to his accounting practice and work with the Aurora Police Foundation. But retirement didnโ€™t last long. In 2019, newly elected Sheriff Tyler Brown reached out and asked Bob to returnโ€”this time as a Bureau Chief. Having known Sheriff Brownโ€™s family for many years, Bob couldnโ€™t say no. Sheriff Brown wanted Bobโ€™s experience, and Bob wanted to help.

So, in January 2019, Bob returned to the Arapahoe County Sheriffโ€™s Office. Fast forward to 2026, and Chief Stef was finally ready to retireโ€”for good. One very proud achievement is that he never had to discharge his weapon in the line of duty. He leaves law enforcement on a high note.

โ€œItโ€™s time,โ€ Bob said. โ€œI am very connected to my family, and I want to spend more time with them. I also love watching my son play high school and club baseball, supporting my other son achieve his goal of enlisting in the military, I want to play golf and I want to do some volunteering.โ€

When asked what heโ€™ll miss most, Bob shared: โ€œIโ€™m really going to miss the family-oriented culture at the Sheriffโ€™s Office. You wonโ€™t find a better group of people who work hard and love their job. Someone made me laugh every single day. Someone once said, 'You wonโ€™t miss the circus, but youโ€™ll miss the clowns.' Believe me, Iโ€™ll miss the clowns!โ€

Thank you, Bob, for your dedication, leadership, and commitment to the Arapahoe County Sheriffโ€™s Office and the community you served for nearly half a century. You will be deeply missed, and we wish you a happy, healthy, and well-earned retirement.

Thanks to President Trumpโ€™s leadership and the dedication of DHS law enforcement, Americaโ€™s borders are safer than any time in our nationโ€™s history. What President Trump and our CBP agents and officers have been able to do in a single year is nothing short of extraordinary.

Once again, we have a record low number of encounters at the border and the 8th straight month of zero releases. Month after month, we are delivering results that were once thought impossible: the most secure border in history and unmatched enforcement successes.

Governor Gavin Newsom: For decades, California didn't have a statewide policy for reducing homelessness and increasing affordable housing.

Thanks to our work since 2019, we're seeing progress in the levels of unsheltered homelessness and knocking down barriers to building homes for all Californians.
___

Kevin Dalton: For more than 2 decades, Gavin Newsom has been promising to solve homelessness in 10 years.

In 2022 he announced CARE Court.

Newsomโ€™s plan would finally give desperate families the tools needed to help get their loved ones off the sidewalks of California and into treatment.

I hope youโ€™re sitting down, but Gavin Newsom lied.

Care Court cost taxpayers 100s of millions of dollars and served so few people you will laugh out loud before you seethe in anger.
