Today we Honor Memphis Police Officer Robert Hester who was beaten, tortured, and murdered after being taken hostage; EOW 1/12/1983.
On Jan 11th Hester and his partner Ray Schwill were lured to a house at 2239 Shannon Ave. responding to a report of a purse snatching. When Officer Hester and his partner arrived, they entered the house and were jumped by a group of 13 agitated men. As the pair tried to escape the house, the group attacked them. One suspect was able to gain control of Schwillsβ gun and shot him in the face. Schwill escaped by jumping through the front window, but Hester was captured.
The first officers arriving attempted to enter and save Hester. Officer Russ Aiken emptied his service revolver and after reloading twice his revolver was empty. He exited and retrieved a shotgun and entered again exchanging fire with the occupants who by this time were armed with two 38 caliber revolvers. Responding officers were unable to reach Officer Hester. Six of the original thirteen suspects escaped the house as other officers arrived but were all captured.
A 30-hour stand-off began. Negotiation teams were unsuccessful in securing the release of Hester. During the standoff the suspects used Officer Hesterβs radio to broadcast his pleas for help as he was beaten with a flashlight and gun. At 0300 hours on January 13, the house went quiet.
Tactical Officers attempted to rescue Hester by firing tear gas cartridges and flash grenades into the house. As Tact Unit Officers breached the door they were fired upon. Officers returned fire with M-16 rifles and shotguns killing the seven remaining suspects. Tact Unit officers recovered Hester in the back room of the house, but it was too late. Officer Hester had been beaten to death 12 hours before the Tact Unit made entry.
Robert Hester was a Vietnam War veteran.

The Long Beach Police, California, opened its newly renovated police academy yesterday afternoon. That renovation cost about $33 Million and began back in 2023.
Some of the upgrades include new classrooms, locker rooms, a fitness center and conference rooms.
Nearly 100 new Long Beach police recruits will be welcomed to the new campus Monday morning, for what will be the start of the departmentβs largest ever academy class.
Phase 2 of the academyβs expansion will begin later this year.

BREAKING: A Portland police officer has been reassigned following the emergence of a video showing him affirming that he would shoot someone if they drove their car at him during a protest, similarly to what an ICE officer did in Minneapolis, killing a domestic terrorist.

A man on his way to work took a quick detour to help a deer.
The deerβs head was stuck in a dog food bag.
The video captures the moment he freed the animal, even asking βWhat are you doing, dude?β

Drones represent the new frontier of American air superiority. Under President Trump, we are entering a new era to defend our air superiority to protect our borders and the interior of the United States.
With the creation of the DHS Program Executive Office for Unmanned Aircraft Systems and Counter-Unmanned Aircraft Systems, President Trump continues his historic legacy in developing American dominance.
This will help us continue to secure the border and cripple the cartels, protect our infrastructure, and keep Americans safe as they attend festivities and events during a historic year of Americaβs 250th birthday and FIFA 2026.

FACT: In 14 of the top 20 metro areas with the largest illegal migrant populations, home list prices DECLINED year-over-year in December.
The three metro areas that saw modest price increases are all "sanctuary cities."
Mass deportations = lower housing costs for Americans.

In Portland, these officers have their hands tied by policies that turn them into verbal punching bags. Theyβre forced to stand there and take a barrage of abuse from an unhinged woman because their directives prioritize "de-escalation" over law and order.
βIf they react, they risk an investigation for misconduct. Itβs a complete embarrassment.
