Oakland, California: I recorded this a couple of days ago and the amount of art on these USPS trucks has multiplied since then. No hate on the artists. The town is rolling out the red carpet for their work.

Newsreel footage from January 1, 1946, when hundreds of thousands of Angelenos gathered to watch what was then the first Tournament of Roses in five years.
The parade had been canceled for safety in 1942, just weeks after the attack on Pearl Harbor, and then they decided not to hold them during the war due in part to material restrictions. So with the nation on the heels of victory in January 1946, people were so eager to get back to normal that an estimated 320,000 people were already in place to see the parade at 7:30 that morning, per police, with thousands more expected to come. Overall, including the Rose Bowl game and other local events and shopping deals, officials estimated that two million people visited Pasadena that day.
