DEVELOPING: A 40+ vehicle pileup has been reported on I-75 in Detroit, Michigan, between 6 Mile and 8 Mile Monday afternoon amid rapidly deteriorating weather conditions.

The crash occurred as a snow squall moved through the area, bringing sudden whiteout conditions and dangerously slick roads.

At this time, the extent of injuries remains unknown.

I-75 is currently shut down.

NEW: Officers with the Los Angeles Police Department were involved in a crash in the San Fernando Valley overnight, authorities confirmed.  

First responders were also seen tending to the people involved in the incident. It was not known right away if anyone was hospitalized.

'EXTREMELY FRIGHTENING’: A Florida family’s home security camera captured the stunning moment a speeding Corvette smashed through their garden fence on Christmas Eve. The vehicle hit a boat in the yard and the side wall of the house.

No one was hurt in the incident, and while the homeowner is not pressing charges, police who came to the scene issued “many, many tickets.”

Two Chicago police officers were seriously injured in Lakeview early Monday when a stolen vehicle slammed into their squad car as officers searched for suspects involved in a nearby auto break-in.

In a statement, police said a marked CPD squad car was traveling south on Racine Avenue when a stolen Hyundai Elantra disregarded a stop sign and struck the police car in the intersection.
The force of the collision pushed the police vehicle onto the sidewalk and into a tree. The Elantra continued forward and struck three parked vehicles, authorities said.

Both officers inside the squad car sustained serious injuries. They were transported by fellow officers to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where they were treated for their injuries.

Every evening in Seattle, hundreds of people gather in front of a Walgreens to sell items they’ve just shoplifted. By 8:00 p.m. the store closes. By 8:05, an open-air black market forms—rows of stolen goods laid out for buyers looking for cheap prices.

Shoplifting has become big business in Seattle. Theft under $750 is treated as a misdemeanor, and in practice, most officers do not pursue or arrest offenders. The result is predictable: organized retail theft operating openly, night after night.

This isn’t anecdotal or isolated. Washington now has the highest retail theft rate in the nation, averaging roughly $347 in stolen goods per resident. I’ve seen similar illegal markets on Skid Row in Los Angeles, but Seattle stands out. In many ways it functions as a lawless city—and in some respects, it has surpassed Portland in both scale and tolerance of disorder.
