1) Read the road:

•Watch for water pooling near curbs, dips, underpasses, and at the bottom of hills.

•Look for ripples indicating flow; avoid manhole covers (they can lift/shift).

•If other vehicles are turning around, do the same—don’t assume you can make it.

2) Drive defensively:

•Slow down early; increase following distance to reduce hydroplaning.

•Use center lanes on multi-lane roads (outer lanes flood first).

•Avoid hard braking; ease off throttle if you feel hydroplaning.

3) If you see water across the road:

•Stop, turn around, find another route.

•Don’t test depth with your vehicle.

•Avoid nighttime crossings—water is much harder to see.

BREAKING! December 26: Shutting down the Hoover Building.

After more than 20 years of failed attempts, we finalized a plan to permanently close the FBI’s Hoover headquarters and move the workforce into a safe, modern facility. Working directly with President Trump and Congress, we accomplished what no one else could.

When we arrived, taxpayers were about to be on the hook for nearly $5 billion for a new headquarters that wouldn’t open until 2035. We scrapped that plan. Instead, we selected the already-existing Reagan Building, saving billions and allowing the transition to begin immediately with required safety and infrastructure upgrades already underway. Once complete, most of the HQ FBI workforce will move in, and the rest are continuing in our ongoing push to put more manpower in the field, where they will remain.

This decision puts resources where they belong: defending the homeland, crushing violent crime, and protecting national security. It delivers better tools for today’s FBI workforce at a fraction of the cost.

The Hoover Building will be shut down permanently.

Mexico: Video from last week showing gunmen attacking Veracruz State Police last week in Tierra Blanca, Veracruz. No officers were injured and the cartel members managed to escape.

It is unknown which cartel conducted the attack as Veracruz has CJNG, MF, Grupo Sombra, and others active in the state.

UPDATE: A Metropolitan Police Department officer remains in critical condition on Christmas Day, two days after being struck by a driver while assisting a motorist on I-695 near South Capitol Street.

The officer has been identified by his wife as Officer Terry L. Bennett. His wife, Nadia Bennett, confirmed his condition to WUSA9, saying there were no updates and that he remains critically injured.

MPD has not officially released the officer’s name but confirmed that an officer was hit around 10:10 p.m. Tuesday while helping the driver of a broken-down vehicle on the highway. 

The driver who struck the officer remained at the scene and was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the disabled vehicle was not injured. The MPD Major Crash Investigations Unit is leading the investigation into the incident.

West Haven PD officers jumped into the freezing waters of Long Island Sound to rescue the sole occupant of a vehicle that had crashed into Long Island Sound.

POLICE OFFICER INJURED WHEN PERSON ALLEGEDLY COMES AT HIM WITH A SHOVEL - Earlier this morning, Friday, December 26, 2025, Princeton Police Officer Dominic Esposito was working alone when he responded to a domestic disturbance on Mason Lane. Upon arrival, the involved individual—who was initially reported to be armed with a knife—came out of the residence toward the officer with a shovel.

Westminster MA Police arrived on scene shortly after. Tasers were deployed during the encounter, and the individual was ultimately brought under control and transported to the hospital for evaluation.

Officer Esposito sustained minor injuries during the incident but remains on duty.
