It is with great sadness that we announce the end of watch for one of our very own, K-9 Gassman. K-9 Gassman passed away unexpectedly Friday due to a cardiac event.

K-9 Gassman has served Escambia County since October of 2023 alongside his handler, Deputy Matt Watkins. He mainly worked calls on the south end of our county, and will be remembered fondly by his community.

Thank you, K-9 Gassman for your dedication and service to Escambia County. May your memory never fade.

Video shows the moment an "improvised explosive device" detonated outside of a restaurant near the Las Vegas Strip.

LVMPD initially identified one of the two suspects caught on surveillance video. Navarro, 35, was arrested the next day in connection to the incident. He later pleaded not guilty to six charges, including first-degree arson. His jury trial is expected to begin April 13.

Berkeley Firefighters IAFF Local sadly announced the sudden passing of Fire Captain Scott Hall.

Scott passed away at home on November 28th, 2025, he was 56 years old. Scott served the citizens of Berkeley, California with honor and distinction for 33 years. Scott is survived by his wife Laura of 23 years, and their three children, Savannah (30), Madeleine (28) and Ethan (21).
