Utah: A Salt Lake police officer received minor injuries early Sunday when his patrol car was hit by a woman who investigators allege ran a red light, possibly because she was distracted.
An officer was driving on State Street and was crossing 800 South at about 1:10 a.m. when a westbound vehicle ran a red light and crashed into the marked patrol car, said Salt Lake Police Sgt. Greg Wilking.
After the two cars collided, one also hit a semaphore power box, he said. The officer was taken to a local hospital to be evaluated for minor injuries and was released Sunday afternoon.

BREAKING: Today, TheJusticeDept took decisive action to protect the Second Amendment by filing a brief in the Supreme Court challenging a Hawaii state law that effectively bans public carry. As our brief states, βHawaiiβs law plainly violates the Second Amendment.β
Itβs not just Hawaii that is effectively banning public carry. California, Maryland, New Jersey, and New York have similar laws. So a win in this case will restore Second Amendment rights for millions of Americans.
That is why, more than six months ago, my Justice Department took the unprecedented step of filing a brief in this Second Amendment case urging the Supreme Court to accept it for review.
As I said soon after taking office, the Second Amendment is not a second-class right. My Justice Department will continue to be the most pro-Second Amendment Justice Department in history.
Attorney General Pamela Bondi
