BREAKING: Concord NC Police are investigating a shooting that occurred at the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony just before 7:30 p.m., leading officials to cancel the remainder of the event. Attendees are being asked to leave the area, and drivers should use alternate routes while police secure the scene.

According to a statement from the City of Concord:
“There was a shooting at the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony just before 7:30 p.m. The remainder of the event is cancelled and visitors are advised to leave the area and drivers should seek alternate routes. Anyone with information is asked to call the Concord Police Department at 704-920-5027.”

UPDATE: Four gunshot wound victims were transported to the hospital. Three are in critical condition and one is in stable condition.

BREAKING OVERNIGHT:1 dead, 8 wounded after 2 shootings in the Loop, hours after Chicago's Christmas tree lighting.

The shooting happened during a very busy night downtown, after the city held its official Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony. The reports of gunfire were right outside ABC7's State Street studios.

Without hesitation, they carried him into their police vehicle and rushed him to the hospital.

UPDATE: The shooting that occurred on Friday, November 21 during the City of Concord Tree Lighting Ceremony was not a random act of violence directed at the public.

The Concord NC Police Department investigation revealed the shooting was between two suspects who are known to each other. Police have accounted for all parties involved.

With the support and information provided by the public, the Concord Police Department identified 18-year-old Nasir Ahmad Bostic of Concord as one of the shooters. Bostic is one of the four gunshot wound victims who was transported to the hospital, and he remains in critical condition. Warrants for his arrest have been issued for assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury with intent to kill (N.C.G.S 14-32 (a)) and inciting a riot (N.C.G.S. 14-288.2). Bostic will be served upon his release from the hospital.

The Concord Police Department filed petitions through the North Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice for the second suspected shooter who is a juvenile. The Department filed petitions for assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury with intent to kill (N.C.G.S. 14-32(a)), two counts of discharging into an occupied property inflicting serious injury (N.C.G.S. 14-34.1) and inciting a riot (N.C.G.S. 14-288.2). The juvenile is one of the four gunshot wound victims who was transported to the hospital and remains in critical condition.

North Carolina juvenile privacy laws prevent disclosure of any identifying information regarding a juvenile offender accused of an act which would be a crime if committed by an adult.
