Haunting footage shows the moments immediately before high-speed racer Jessi Combs perished in a fiery crash in Oregon last week. The video shows the jet-powered car powering through Oregon's Alvord Desert as she attempted to break her own 2013 land speed record of 398mph on August 27. The 56-foot, 52,000-horsepower 'jet car' went up in flames moments after the video finished, killing 39-year-old Combs. Police have not yet said whether an impact caused the blaze. 😢 #RIP

Hurricane Dorian churns up the East Coast bringing the worst flooding in 30 YEARS and 100MPH winds as it takes aim at the Carolinas leaving at least one dead and tens of thousands without power. Gov Roy Cooper said Wednesday an 85-year-old man from Columbus County died from injuries when he fell off a ladder as he was trying to prepare his home for the approaching storm. Cooper warned the public at a news conference about the threat of flash flooding, storm surge and more than a foot of rainfall as Dorian arrives Thursday along the southeastern coast. The governor already has ordered evacuations on the state's fragile barrier islands. At least seven deaths have been reported in the Bahamas from Dorian, with the full scope of the disaster still unknown. The hurricane is also predicted to leave hundreds of thousands without electricity in the southeastern US as it moves up the Atlantic Coast. 🌪💦😱

Florida cop rescues and adopts six-week-old puppy when her owner said she would not be able to care for the tiny pitbull during Hurricane Dorian. Fort Pierce officer Michael Jean was on duty when awaiting the storm when he and his partner Martin Ortiz received a call on September 2. According to police, the pet owner reported she was unable to care for the puppy. The Brindle Pittie was only six weeks old and was too young to be left in a shelter cage until the storm passed. ☺️👮🏻‍♂️

A massive relief effort has begun in the Bahamas as thge death toll from Hurricane Dorian has risen to 20 with more fatalities are expected, government officials have confirmed. Health Minister Duane Sands said Wednesday night that 17 victims are from the Abaco islands and three from Grand Bahama. He says three of the 20 victims died after being transported to a hospital in nearby New Providence. The government still is working to contact family members and are unable to release further details at this time. The sharp jump in the death toll comes after search and rescue teams fanned out across both islands as floodwaters receded and the weather cleared. 😱🌪💦
