It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we share the passing of Miami Beach Police Motorman David Cajuso, who succumbed to his injuries following a traffic crash earlier today.

Officer Cajuso faithfully served our Miami Beach community for ten years with courage and an unwavering commitment to public service.

He is survived by his loving wife, three children, and parents, as well as his MBPD family — who will forever honor his memory and legacy.

Funeral arrangements are forthcoming and will be shared once finalized. Please keep Officer Cajuso’s family and loved ones in your thoughts during this difficult time.

NEW: Attempted home invasion robbery in Union City caught on camera.

A surveillance camera captured a girl rush back into a Union City home Friday morning as a group of armed suspects chased after her in what police are calling an attempted home invasion robbery.

NEW: A statue of the Confederate general Albert Pike that was pulled down and set ablaze in Washington, D.C. in June 2020 during the Black Lives Matter movement has been renovated and reinstalled in Judiciary Square. The reinstallation on Saturday was a follow-through of an earlier National Park Service announcement that the federal government intended to restore the statue, which it says had been damaged in "riots."

Fantastic work! In response to a street racing takeover incident last month, detectives and officers conducted a coordinated operation leading to the seizure of two vehicles involved and the arrest of a suspect.  

Thank you to our regional law enforcement partners for their assistance with seizing the vehicles. 

Illegal “street racing” is dangerous and is not tolerated in Long Beach. Those who choose to participate in any type of illegal motor vehicle gatherings or associated crimes will be identified and arrested.

This afternoon, Sheriff Robert Luna and LASD personnel hosted the Hall of Justice Halloween Decoration Competition and welcomed the children from the LASD Youth Activity League.

Department personnel guided the children throughout various work locations, engaging in trick or treating, while the children assessed the Halloween decorations. Over the past three years, Department personnel assigned to the Hall of Justice have expressed pride in their involvement in a Halloween decoration competition that has been judged by LASD Youth Activity League.

After the children were done trick or treating they were led to the Hall of Justice Media Room for food, refreshments, and more treats. From costumes to treats, our Halloween celebration fostered joy, laughter, and a sense of community.

Congratulations to the East Patrol Division on their Scary Clown Tunnel as the children made their selection for the best decorated area. Our department was proud to host this year’s Halloween event, which was full of community participation and festive Halloween fun.🎃

Los Angeles Police Department’s (LAPD) Force Investigation Division is investigating an Officer-Involved Shooting (OIS) that occurred in Hollenbeck Division.

On September 14, 2025, at approximately 10:46 p.m., Hollenbeck Area Gang Enforcement Detail uniformed officers were driving in the 2400 block of Boulder Street when they encountered the suspect, later identified as 30-year-old Francisco Garcia, in possession of an open container of alcohol.

As the officers attempted to contact Garcia, he fled, and a short foot pursuit ensued. Garcia ultimately fell while running between residences and produced a handgun from his waistband area, which resulted in an Officer-Involved Shooting. Garcia was struck by gunfire and was taken into custody without further incident.

The officers rendered aid until the arrival of Los Angeles Fire Department personnel. Garcia was subsequently transported to a local hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.

A loaded 9mm Taurus pistol, with a seated high-capacity magazine, was recovered at the scene and booked as evidence.

No officers or community members were injured during this incident.
