A Vermont State Police cruiser struck a deer late Saturday night while responding to a domestic disturbance in Jay. Sgt. Daniel Lynch, 37, of Derby, was driving north on Route 105 with emergency lights activated when a deer entered the roadway near Vincent Road, according to police.

The cruiser sustained heavy front-end damage. Lynch, who was on duty, suffered minor injuries and was treated at North Country Hospital.

A driver suspected of DUI was taken into custody following a crash on I-5 near Milton overnight that left a Washington State Patrol trooper and a person injured.

The collision occurred in the southbound lanes near Porter Way shortly after midnight Thursday.

Washington State Patrol Trooper Kameron Watts confirmed three vehicles were involved, including a trooper's patrol car. The trooper was conducting a traffic stop when their vehicle was struck by the suspect's vehicle.

Both the trooper and the person who had originally been stopped were taken to the hospital.

Cincinnati Police Chief Terri Theetge has been placed on paid administrative leave pending an internal investigation into her leadership, according to City Manager Sheryl Long.

Long cited “serious public safety challenges” as the reason for the change and appointed Assistant Chief Adam Hennie as Interim Police Chief, saying she has “full confidence” in his leadership and the department’s stability.

Mayor Aftab Pureval voiced support for the decision, stating he’s confident the interim chief and department will continue prioritizing public safety.

Theetge, the first woman to lead the Cincinnati Police Department, was called back from a Denver conference for a meeting with the city manager and has since hired an employment attorney. Her attorney, Steve Imm, announced a press conference for Tuesday at 10 a.m., which WLWT plans to stream live.

Theetge has served with the department for more than 30 years, and her future now lies with the city manager’s decision.
