Vehicle Swept Away in Weekes Wash – Driver Rescued by Apache Junction Police

Apache Junction, AZ – October 13, 2025 – At approximately 8:38 PM, the Apache Junction Police Department received a 911 call reporting that a vehicle had been swept into Weekes Wash near 4th Avenue and Tomahawk Road due to fast-moving water.

Upon arrival, officers located the vehicle and made contact with the driver, a 59-year-old male from Chandler, AZ. Officers instructed the driver to remain inside the vehicle for his safety. Utilizing a rope from a patrol vehicle, officers threw one end to the driver. After securing the rope, one of the officers entered the wash, reached the vehicle, and safely assisted the driver out.

The officer and driver made their way back to the roadway, where they exited the water safely. Superstition Fire and Medical responded to the scene, evaluated the driver, and cleared him without injury.

The vehicle was later recovered and towed to the driver’s residence once water levels subsided.

Oregon: An armed suspect was shot and killed Wednesday afternoon during an officer-involved shooting in Eagle Point, authorities said.

According to the Eagle Point Police Department (EPPD), officers responded around 12:13 p.m. to a report of a domestic disturbance. The suspect was later contacted near the Covered Bridge, where the encounter turned violent.

“The armed suspect is deceased,” the department said in a statement. “An EPPD officer was injured during the incident and was transported to a local hospital with non life-threatening injuries.”

Officials said there are no additional suspects and no ongoing threat to the public. Law enforcement remained on scene Wednesday at East Main Street and South Shasta Avenue as the investigation continued.

When the ICE arrests first started happening in Los Angeles, city and county leaders said the protests occurred in "such a small area that the national guard wasn't needed." But today, the LA County Board of Supervisors have passed an emergency declaration for all of LA county, paving the way for taxpayer resources to go to illegal alien residents, including rent relief and legal aid. Word is the supervisors are considering adding a moratorium on rent for those aggrieved.  

The current board, seen below, voted 4-1 on the measure, with the one vote against coming from Kathryn Barger, who warned that the county’s action could provoke legal consequences.
