Please, pray for the Sandy Springs Police officer who was shot in the line of duty this morning.🙏🏻

Georgia: A man surrendered after allegedly shooting an officer and barricading himself inside a Sandy Springs home on Tuesday, according to the city’s police department.

Officers were called to the home in the area of Carroll Manor Drive and North River Parkway at around 11:10 a.m. for reports of gunfire.

The suspect allegedly opened fire on police when they entered the home, leading to an officer being grazed in the thumb.

The officer, who has not been identified, was taken to a local hospital and is expected to recover.

VCFD and Oxnard Fire Department were dispatched to assist Ventura County Animal Services with a dog trapped in a flood channel in the Oxnard plains.

The dog was stranded on a small collection of reeds and debris in the middle of a vertical wall channel of the Revolon Slough, surrounded by rising, fast-moving water and steep channel walls.

Firefighters carefully extended a 35-foot ground ladder toward the dog, allowing a member of VCFD’s Swift Water Rescue Team to descend and safely bring her to shore. The dog was then turned over to Ventura County Animal Services, who report the estimated 3-year-old female Pug or French Bulldog mix appeared to be unharmed.

The dog was not wearing an ID tag or microchip and is now being cared for by VC Animal Services as they search for her owner.

Thanks to the training and teamwork of our firefighters and swift water team, this frightened pup was safely rescued from the rising floodwaters.

UPDATE: Woman from Wichita Doorbell Video Located Safely

The Wichita Police Department confirms the woman seen in the widely shared doorbell video has been located safe.

Around 3 p.m. Monday, investigators received a call from a woman claiming to be the person in the footage. Detectives responded immediately, made contact, and transported her to City Hall for a victim interview.

Police have identified her as a 35-year-old woman who lives in the area where the video was recorded.

Investigators believe the incident was a case of domestic violence involving her boyfriend. Officials say she does not have significant injuries.

“We want to thank the public for sharing the video and still images that generated additional attention about this incident. We do believe it led the female to call us saying she was the person we were looking for,” the department said.

Police added that there is no ongoing threat to the public, and the case will be presented to the appropriate attorney’s office for charging consideration as the investigation continues.
