Louisiana: A suspect is dead and one of the two deputies injured has now died after a shooting at the Iberville Parish Courthouse around 7:50 p.m. Monday.

According to sources, the gunfire erupted as deputies were interrogating a man from White Castle at the courthouse. The suspect reportedly grabbed a deputy’s gun and fired multiple shots, hitting two Iberville Parish Sheriff’s deputies before being shot and killed. One of the injured deputies is Sheriff Brett Stassi’s son.

One deputy was shot in the abdomen & taken by private vehicle to Ochsner Iberville. He’s being airlifted to Baton Rouge in critical condition. The other deputy was hit in the side.

DEVELOPING: A fire broke out at the Dow chemical plant in Freeport, Texas Monday night.

The facility is located on Brazosport Boulevard near the Nolan Ryan Expressway. Residents nearby reported hearing an explosion.

According to Dow Texas Operations, the fire broke out at Plant B. In an update, officials said the fire was contained within the facility block and all employees were accounted for. They didn't say if there were any injuries.

The company said that at this time, there is nothing required of the community. First responders are on scene.

According to Dow's website, Dow’s Texas Operations facility is the company’s largest integrated site, covering about 7,000 acres. The plant produces nearly half of Dow’s U.S. products and roughly one-fifth of its products sold worldwide.

California: Two men were detained and one officer was injured after a pursuit and search in the Ridgecrest area.

Officers with the Ridgecrest Police Department observed a suspected “drug house,” in the 300 block of North Alvord Street. A 61-year-old man was seen leaving the residence on a dirt bike. Officers attempted to stop him but he fled through streets and desert terrain.
He fled on foot but was apprehended and allegedly found in possession of fentanyl. An officer sustained a fractured elbow and laceration, according to police.

The officer was treated at a local hospital.

Some encouraging news. Lt. David Godfrey, who was hurt in the ambush in North Codorus Township, made an appearance at a K9 fundraiser.

A lieutenant with the York County Sheriff’s Office who was injured in a shootout on Sept. 17 attended a spaghetti dinner fundraiser at the York Fairgrounds on Sunday.

Lt. David Godfrey attended the dinner for the York County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit, according to a video posted on Facebook.

A New York State Police trooper was conducting a traffic stop near Schroon Lake in Essex County when a cargo van crashed into the rear of the trooper's cruiser, killing a passenger in the van.

At 3:35 p.m., New York State Police responded to a three-car collision involving a state police vehicle, a 2011 Mercedes 350 and a Ford Transit near Schroon Lake in Essex County.

According to police, a state trooper was conducting a traffic stop on the 2011 Mercedes 350 after witnessing a traffic law violation. The Ford Transit struck the back of the police vehicle, which was stopped on I-87 with the emergency lights activated, police said.

The New York State trooper was taken to Glen Falls Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
