“It is with profound sadness that the Tulsa Fire Department announces the passing of Lieutenant Brian Bizzell, who was involved in a fatal accident in Owasso on September 30, 2025.

Lieutenant Bizzell faithfully served the Tulsa community since joining the department on August 17, 1998. Assigned most recently to Station 31, he dedicated more than 27 years to protecting lives and serving others with courage, professionalism, and compassion.

He was a respected leader, a trusted colleague, and a beloved member of our fire family. Our deepest sympathies go out to his family, friends, and fellow firefighters during this difficult time.”

NEW: Malibu to begin arresting unpermitted campers in fire-risk zones.

The Malibu City Council unanimously approved an emergency declaration this week targeting unpermitted camping in fire-prone areas.

720 structures in Malibu burned down in January.

To date 69 have received initial plan approval.

Only TWO have obtained building permits, allowing them to begin construction.

Now Malibu’s rebuild ambassador has quit and she told Karen Bass to do the same.

DEVELOPING: All residents in New Canton, Illinois, were asked to remain inside and lock their doors as law enforcement responded to a reported active shooter situation in the town.

"Law enforcement is currently responding to an active situation in New Canton. Officers are in the area and actively working to bring this matter to a safe resolution. We ask residence to remain indoors until further updates are provided. We appreciate your cooperation."

NEW: Train derails in City of Industry, California.

A train derailed in the City of Industry Thursday morning, though it appears no one was injured.

Yesterday federal agents briefly detained a person believed to be connected to a crash on Chicago’s West Side near Congress Parkway and California Avenue but released them after further investigation. The crash left a 49-year-old woman with shoulder, neck, and hip injuries after her black vehicle was struck by a white vehicle whose driver fled the scene. Chicago police said they did not coordinate with or assist federal authorities in immigration enforcement, and the crash remains under investigation.

Live in Portland after a night of embedding with federal agents at their embattled building here. Last night’s protest was very small, maybe a couple dozen people, but lots of verbal scuffles, and we did witness some fed arrests. National Guard has not arrived on location yet.
