Illinois: A Rockford Police squad car was struck by another vehicle that was exiting onto S. Alpine Road from the U.S. 20 bypass.

The officer was hospitalized for minor injuries caused in the crash, police said.

Two occupants of the offending vehicle, including the driver, Tracey McLin, 38, were also taken to the hospital.

UPDATE: The Madison police officer and his K9, who suffered injuries after a head-on collision, who police said a reckless driver caused on over the weekend, have been identified, according to officials.

According to Capital K9s, Officer Ryan Kimberely and K9 Freddie responded to reports of a reckless driver, which ended in a head-on collision.

Capital K9s reported that Freddie was wearing a vest, which helped protect him from more serious injuries.

Officer Kimberely is a current serving member of the Wisconsin Air National Guard 115th Fighter Wing.

On September 26, 2025, Officer Katelyn Tully of the Haverhill Police Department in MA unexpectedly passed away.

Officer Tully proudly served in the U.S. Army, including a six-month deployment to Afghanistan, where she earned numerous awards and commendations. After an honorable discharge, she began her law enforcement career, serving with both Haverhill Police and Newbury Police before returning to Haverhill. She was a member of the Haverhill Police Honor Guard and the Military Honor Guard.
