The Florida Highway Patrol honors the life and service of Trooper Craig Gaines, who tragically passed away on September 19, 2025 from injuries sustained in the line of duty.

Trooper Gaines began his FHP career in 2008 as part of the 115th Recruit Class, following earlier service with the Havana Police Department and the Gadsden County Sheriff's Office. Before entering law enforcement, he proudly served in the United States Navy.

His commitment to service and his impact on his community will never be forgotten.

Prayers for the Tulsa Police Officer who was shot in the line of duty last night.🙏🏻

Oklahoma: On 9/26/2025, around 8:45 pm, Tulsa Police Officers stopped a car at 3600 E. Admiral. When they approached the vehicle, the Officers noticed a semi-automatic pistol on the floorboard. When asked about the gun, the suspect floored it, hitting a couple of police cars, and a pursuit started.

Officers chased the suspect to the QT at Admiral and Memorial, where he jumped out of his moving car with a pistol in hand and fired at Officers.

One Officer was struck in the ankle, and at least 2 police cars were struck by the suspect’s bullets.

Based on the suspect’s violent actions and the chance that he may injure innocent bystanders, the Officer used his patrol vehicle to strike the suspect, neutralizing the continuing threat.

The suspect was disarmed, and first aid was immediately started on both the Officer and the suspect.

EMSA and Fire arrived to continue first aid and transported the Officer and suspect to the hospital. The Officer is expected to recover from his injuries, with the bullet fracturing bones in his ankle, but the injuries are not life-threatening.
