NEW: Attorney General Liz Murrill said that a person is in custody in downtown Baton Rouge on Wednesday after rumors began to swirl about an active shooter near her office. 

"There is not an active shooter in or around the Livingston Building," Murrill said on social media. "The situation is under control."

BREAKING: 5 officers shot, 3 fatally, while serving warrant in Pennsylvania.

Five officers were shot, three fatally, in York County, Pennsylvania, on Wednesday, state police said.

The shooter is dead, according to Pennsylvania State Police Commissioner Colonel Christopher Paris, who said there is no ongoing threat.

Two people are being treated at Wellspan York Hospital in connection with the incident, a hospital spokesperson confirmed to ABC News. The officers are in critical but stable condition, according to Paris.

"There are simply no words that I can offer to assuage the grief that this community has experienced and unfortunately will continue to occur," Paris said at a press briefing Wednesday evening. "The grief will be unbearable, but we will bear it."
Pennsylvania State Police are leading the investigation into the shooting. Paris said there are many details police are not ready to release at this time due to the ongoing investigation.

Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro said he has been briefed on the situation and responded to the scene in North Codorus Township.

The state's attorney general, Dave Sunday, also responded.

Agents with the ATF Harrisburg Field Office and the FBI are assisting at the scene.

The incident was reported to 911 shortly after 2 p.m. on Wednesday and multiple police and emergency medical service units responded, a York County emergency management official said.
Dave Miller, who lives across the street from the shooting, said he watched as officers approached the barn area of a farm, then heard "many, many gunshots."

He described the incident as "traumatic."

"Like a scene off today's TV," he told the station.

All schools in the Spring Grove Area School District were initially sheltering in place "due to an officer-involved incident in our area," the school district said in a statement while stressing the situation does not involve any of its schools or students. The shelter in place has since ended, the district said.

"Our prayers are with the officers, their families, and the entire York County community," FBI Director Kash Patel said in a statement.

NEW: ABC broadcast affiliate Nexstar is removing Jimmy Kimmel indefinitely after he joked about the assassination of Charlie Kirk.

The announcement says the following:

"Nexstar Media Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: NXST), today announced that the company’s owned and partner television stations affiliated with the ABC Television Network will preempt “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” for the foreseeable future beginning with tonight’s show.

Nexstar strongly objects to recent comments made by Mr. Kimmel concerning the killing of Charlie Kirk and will replace the show with other programming in its ABC-affiliated markets."

"Mr. Kimmel’s comments about the death of Mr. Kirk are offensive and insensitive at a critical time in our national political discourse, and we do not believe they reflect the spectrum of opinions, views, or values of the local communities in which we are located,” said Andrew Alford, President of Nexstar’s broadcasting division."

"Continuing to give Mr. Kimmel a broadcast platform in the communities we serve is simply not in the public interest at the current time, and we have made the difficult decision to preempt his show in an effort to let cooler heads prevail as we move toward the resumption of respectful, constructive dialogue."

END OF WATCH: K9 Diesel was put to rest this morning at the Animal Hospital of Signal Mountain.

That’s after Chattanooga Police say he was badly injured on the job Monday night as they responded to a domestic call.

The suspect inside of the home had a rifle, and was refusing to come outside, according to the information police had at the time. Assistant Chief Rusty Morrison tells us K9 operations deploy alongside their SWAT operations -- it was later determined no one was inside the home.

K9 Diesel was injured after sweeping the house through a broken window; when he tried to exit, we're told his back legs got hung on the window frame, he reacted, and severely cut himself on both legs. This severed an artery in one of his legs.

Diesel underwent surgery in the aftermath, and despite being stabilized, it was determined his quality of life was diminished. That led to the decision to humanely euthanize him.

First responders lined up to say their goodbyes as Diesel was carried inside of the animal hospital.

Diesel was 3 years old and served with the Chattanooga Police Department since April 2024.
