NEW: An LAPD officer was injured during a search for a suspect in Van Nuys.

It started with a call for help from a manager/landlord at an extended stay on Sherman Way.
Police say when officers and tried talking to the suspect, a parolee, he jumped out a window, scaled the side of the building and broke into a unit on the second floor. That's when the officer was hurt.

Meanwhile "Spiderman" then tried jumping out a second floor window but was stopped and taken into custody.

Suspect wasn't hurt but the officer had a serious injury to his knee and leg and was taken to the hospital to be checked out.

Alaska: An Eagle River man who assisted in disarming two armed men during an Alaska State Fair brawl is speaking out for the first time about the Labor Day incident seen in now viral cell phone videos.

“The first thought that went through my head is there are kids everywhere,” Jaden Perry, 24, said as he recalled jumping into de-escalate a fight between two young men he saw, including one who pulled out a gun, as he was helping a friend break down a booth around 8 p.m. Monday.

I want to provide you another update on your FBI’s Operation Summer Heat, which continues to deliver results as we strive to protect the communities we serve. By uniting with our communities and law enforcement partners, we stay prepared and resilient together.
 
-In FBI New York our teams arrested a subject involved in the robbery of a gas station where an elderly employee was manning the store.

-The FBI Seattle office saw a major success as they investigated a large-scale street gang, which resulted in the collection of 23 firearms and over 9,800 grams in drug seizures. They are accused of using female couriers to transport pills in luggage from source in Arizona to Seattle and Baltimore airports.
 
-FBI Tampa with our partners at DEA, USPS, DOL, and the Lakeland Police Department targeted a violent street gang called the Hood Boys. Friday, Twelve Lakeland, FL-based gang members were charged with paycheck protection program fraud. According to the indictments, they devised a scheme to defraud the U.S. Small Business Administration by submitting false and fraudulent Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loan applications. Each of the defendants received between $13,854 and $20,416. Instead of repaying the loans, they either applied for the loans to be forgiven (which they were) or defaulted on them. The defendants spent the money on automobile payments and purchases at liquor stores, clothing stores, and gun stores. The total loss to the United States from these applications is approximately $236,000. The group is believed to also have ties to the Foreign Terrorist Organization, Sinaloa Cartel and be involved in the distribution of methamphetamine, cocaine, and other criminal activity in that area.
 
-Collaboration between FBI New Orleans and our partners to include ATF, U.S. Marshals, and the New Orleans Police Department, we all worked to remove illegal guns and narcotics off the streets of New Orleans. In these efforts, the operation resulted in 60 felony arrests, 31 narcotics seizure events, and an estimated removal of more than $39k in narcotics.
 
Since its inception in June, Operation Summer Heat has resulted in 6,328 arrests and the seizure of close to 1,700 firearms. We’ve also located or identified about 770 children.

These numbers will only continue to grow along with YOUR FBI’s dedication and vigilance.

Big news coming out today in the FBI’s efforts to rid the U.S. of Foreign Terrorist Organizations…

Two new groups now fall under the FTO designation—Los Choneros and Los Lobos. Both are criminal organizations based in Ecuador that are responsible for significant drug and firearms trafficking and acts of extreme violence.
 
The FBI, along with our partners within the newly established Homeland Security Task Force, played a crucial role in helping get this designation by providing critical intelligence to support. You may remember, the leader of the Los Choneros, José Adolfo “Fito” Macías Villamar, was extradited to Brooklyn in July to face international drug and gun charges. These groups being added to this designation reinforces our commitment to disrupting terrorist networks and protecting our nation.
 
This will allow the FBI and our partners to continue to strike at violent groups that exploit the drug trade to fund operations and push dangerous drugs into the American communities. We WILL cut off their resources and reduce their ability to harm people both here at home and abroad.

Brett's law enforcement journey began at the Holmes County Sheriff's Office in 2010 when he was just 20 years old. Over the past 15 years, we've had the privilege of witnessing his remarkable life unfold - from marrying his beloved Charley, to becoming a devoted father of three, working alongside his dad, and dedicating his life to serving his family and community. Officer Mondesir was parked and working on a report when someone came up to him and told him a toddler wasn’t breathing. Bodycam footage shows Mondesir picking up the 18-month-old and giving him CPR for seven minutes. An unidentified off-duty nurse also acted "quickly and bravely," stepping in to save the child. The child was taken to the hospital, where he survived.
