The Los Angeles Police Department’s Force Investigation Division is investigating an Officer-Involved Shooting that occurred in Central Division.

On July 13, 2025, around 9:10​ , Central Patrol Division uniformed officers responded to a radio call of an ADW suspect in the area of South Figueroa Street and West Olympic Boulevard. The comments of the call indicated that a male suspect stopped his vehicle in the middle of the intersection, exited, and was swinging a sword at pedestrians.

Upon arrival, officers observed the suspect, later identified as 36-year-old Gurpreet Singh, standing in the intersection holding a machete. Officers gave multiple commands for Singh to drop the weapon; however, he failed to comply. Singh then returned to his vehicle, retrieved a water bottle, and threw it at the officers. He subsequently entered his vehicle and fled southbound on Figueroa Street while waving the machete outside the driver’s side window.

Officers initiated a brief vehicle pursuit during which Singh drove erratically and collided with an officer’s vehicle. A short time later, Singh stopped near Figueroa Street and 12th Street, exited his vehicle while still armed with the machete, and charged at the officers, resulting in an Officer-Involved Shooting.

Singh was struck by gunfire and fell to the pavement. The Los Angeles Fire Department responded and transported Singh to a local hospital for medical treatment.

A machete, two feet in length, was recovered at the scene and booked as evidence.

No officers or community members were injured during the incident.

Authorities say the individual fled the scene on foot and has yet to be apprehended. Officials have not released any details regarding the identity of the at-large suspect.

Ohio: A Chillicothe Police officer and a male suspect were hospitalized following an officer-involved shooting early Wednesday morning.

The incident occurred around 1 a.m. on August 27 in the 300 block of East Main Street, according to police. One officer suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Adena Regional Medical Center for treatment.

The suspect, described as an African American mal,e was involved in the incident was also taken to Adena before being transferred to Grant Medical Center in Columbus with serious injuries, including a gunshot woundto himself.

At the request of the Chillicothe Police Department, the Ohio Attorney General’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation is leading the investigation.

NEW: A federal immigration officer was attacked and injured while trying to take a man into custody in Florida, according to local authorities.

Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said the incident unfolded Tuesday morning in Lakeland.

Two Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers had followed Denis Corea Miranda, 21, because he had a warrant for deportation, according to the sheriff’s office.

The ICE officers chased after Miranda but said they lost him in the woods. The Polk County Sheriff’s Office was then called to assist, launching a helicopter, drones and sending out K-9 teams.

The ICE officer who got into a fight with Miranda was taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for a shoulder injury and is expected to recover.

The FBI is investigating this shooting as an act of domestic terrorism and hate crime targeting Catholics.

There were 2 fatalities, an 8-year-old and a 10-year-old. In addition, 14 children and 3 adults were injured.

The shooter has been identified as Robin Westman, a male born as Robert Westman.

The FBI will continue to provide updates on our ongoing investigation with the public as we are able.

JUST IN: A Maryland man who intentionally hit Montgomery County Police Sgt. Patrick Kepp at 100+ MPH was given a maximum sentence of 22 years and 60 days this afternoon.

In October 2023, 19-year-old Raphael Mayorga struck the sergeant, who was setting up spike strips outside of his cruiser on I-270.

Sergeant Kepp was listed in critical condition for several days & lost both legs as a result. Additionally, he needed 10 surgeries in eight months following the crash. He has miraculously since returned to work with the Montgomery County Police Department.

In his victim impact statement, Kepp told the judge that Mayorga will eventually get out of jail, but Kepp “is serving a life sentence,” because of his injuries.
