Connecticut: A Danbury police officer was injured while attempting to arrest a shooting suspect Friday night, police say.

Police say a person was shot in the neck around 6:30 p.m. near 2 Lake Ave.
They were taken to the hospital.

Once officers arrived on scene, they were quickly able to collect information on the suspect and found his vehicle in the area.
Police say the suspect engaged the officers in a pursuit.

Officers were able to stop the vehicle on I-84 West near the New York border. The suspect was then apprehended and a handgun was found in his vehicle.

An officer involved in the crash suffered minor injuries during the apprehension of the suspect, police say.

The FL Dept of Correction confirmed all of the officers involved have been dismissed, saying they do not tolerate such conduct toward inmates.

LAPD News: A SWAT operation is underway in the area of 23rd &Arlington. The area will be closed for several hours due to this investigation. PIO is in route to the scene to gather information and will post here as it becomes available.

This is preliminary info, the scene is active and susp is still in the house: around 1:30pm Southwest Div ofcrs responded to a “Shots Fired, ambulance required “ radio call a a residence in the 2300 block of W. 23rd Street.

The person reporting stated that the victim, a male adult , was shot by the suspect and down in front of the house.

When ofcrs arrived to the house they discovered a gunshot victim lying on the ground in front of the house. As ofcrs approached the victim, the suspect began firing shots at the officers and an OIS occurred. It’s unknown if the suspect was struck by gunfire.

No officers or other community members were injured.

California: After burning over 131,000 acres, the Gifford Fire in Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties is now 95% contained. The fire has already brought in a BAER team, Burned Area Emergency Response Team, and they started their work today to asses the damage done and begin soil/erosion recovery efforts.

Crews are putting the finishing touches on mop up operations. Here is a view that Salmon River Hotshots had as they worked to complete part of the 36 hour burn that took place at the tail end of major fire activity. Thanks to the crew for sharing!

A ton of work went into this fire from thousands of firefighters. There are still nearly 1,900 personnel on scene, and the fire cost a total of $168M so far.

Michigan: Detroit Police confirmed that at least two officers suffered minor injuries when their patrol vehicle was struck by another motorist on Saturday evening in the area of Gratiot and Lappin. 

A witness, who said she helped pull the officers and the driver of the other vehicle from their cars, said the driver of the truck that struck the officers ran a red light. 

Police said that two people were in the truck. One was hospitalized with minor injuries, and the other refused treatment.
