UPDATE: Injured law enforcement officers released from hospital after shooting last week, Illinois State Police say.

A Gibson City police officer and Ford County sheriff’s deputy are on the mend after a shooting nearly a week ago.

State Police said the officer and deputy were hit by gunfire attempting to make contact with the man, identified as 70-year-old David Jordan, at his home.

The deputy, a six-year veteran of the sheriff’s office, was shot in the left knee and arm. The officer, on the force for a year, was shot in the left hip.

State Police said neither officer fired their weapons. Both were released from the hospital on Aug. 10 and have been placed on paid administrative leave.

Law enforcement is still searching for Jordan, wanted in connection with the shooting.
