Thousands of San Fernando Valley residents still without water due to system break.

It's the second day that residents in the Porter Ranch and Granada Hills neighborhoods of Los Angeles County are left without water as crews work to repair a water system break on Thursday.

Illinois: A Chicago police officer was hit by a fleeing car and fired their gun after a GameStop smash-and-grab burglary early Thursday on the Northwest Side.

Around 4:26 a.m., Chicago police officers saw multiple armed people burglarizing a business in the 2900 block of West Addison Street, in the Avondale neighborhood.

The burglars had apparently driven a vehicle through the front of a GameStop.

The suspects then got into a white Chrysler sedan and a red Jeep SUV. As they drove away, one of the vehicles struck a responding officer. As the officer was hit, they fired their gun.

Police said there were no reports of anyone being struck by the gunfire.
The injured officer was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

UPDATE: A shooting in Susquehanna County on Thursday left two Pennsylvania State Troopers in the hospital, a woman shot dead, and the reported suspect killed by authorities.

Two Pennsylvania State Troopers were shot on Thursday while responding to a call in Susquehanna County, authorities said. The suspect, now identified, was shot and killed by other responding members of the Pennsylvania State Police.

According to Pennsylvania State Police (PSP), the two troopers, identified as Trooper Joseph Perechinsky and Trooper William Jenkins, responded to a call along Route 171 in Thompson Township, in the northeastern part of the county.

Police stated that during the encounter, 61-year-old Carmine Faino, opened fire on the responding troopers, wounding them.

Tennessee: A Memphis police officer was injured in a one-vehicle crash in the Crosstown area Thursday night after experiencing a medical issue.

The accident happened just before 8 p.m. at North Bellevue and North Parkway, where the officer lost control of his police cruiser and crashed into a pole.

The MPD did not disclose the medical issue. The officer was taken to the hospital in non-critical condition.

A Philadelphia police officer was injured after he was dragged by a driver during a traffic stop. That driver, 28-year-old Paul Reid, was later arrested after police say he barricaded himself inside a home. 

The incident began around 1 a.m. Thursday when Philadelphia police say officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop after a 2010 blue Nissan Altima was seen running two stop signs.

The suspect was seen reaching under his seat, and when officers arrived at the window of the car, officers observed packaging for narcotics. 

After failing to provide any documentation and ignoring officers’ instructions to exit the vehicle, police say the driver tried to take off in the vehicle, dragging one of the officers a short distance down the 1900 block of Plymouth Street in West Oak Lane.

A second officer arrived at the scene as the driver was fleeing, and both officers were struck by the vehicle and sustained minor abrasions and contusions.
