NEW:"California Gov. Gavin Newsom on Friday vowed to “fight fire with fire” should Texas move ahead with redrawing congressional districts to protect the Republican majority during the midterm elections. 

On Saturday, the Texas Legislature is scheduled to start a series of hearings during a special legislative session ordered by Republican Gov. Greg Abbott. Among the items under consideration is whether the state should redraw its congressional districts. President Donald Trump has asked the state's Republican leaders to secure more seats for the party in the U.S. House of Representatives in the 2026 election by redrawing district lines this year. 

Newsom hosted six Democratic Texas state lawmakers at the governor's mansion in Sacramento Friday afternoon, including Representatives Rafael Anchía, Chris Turner, Barbara Gervin Hawkins, Ana-Maria Ramos, Ramon Romero, and Nicole Collier.  Following the meeting, Newsom discussed the options he's considering to try to get California to take the same action as Texas, but for Democrats."

Seattle, WA: The man is suspected of hitting a police officer with his vehicle in the Interbay area and then taking off to the South Lake Union neighborhood.

The man ditched the stolen vehicle near Terry Ave and Lenora Streets and then took off on foot. The situation drew a large police response to South Lake Union Thursday afternoon.

The officer had minor injuries.

NEW: Trump supporter arrested by ICE reiterates her support for the President.

While still in custody at the ICE detention center in Adelanto, Arpineh Masihi said she still supports President Trump "because he's our president, no matter what situation I'm in."
