On this day one year ago, Corporal Mohamed Said was killed in the line of duty, becoming Michiganβs first Muslim police officer to die while serving his community.
On Sunday, July 20, 2025, hundreds gathered in Melvindale to honor his memory during a powerful tribute held at 4300 S. Dearborn Street.
The event, known as Corporal Said Memorial Day, featured a solemn memorial ceremony, community celebration, and a large motorcade that passed through Dearborn, including a moving moment captured on video as it traveled down Michigan Avenue and Greenfield Road.
The memorial, held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., is followed by an indoor soccer game β a nod to Corporal Saidβs love for the sport. The event drew law enforcement agencies from across the state and beyond, with a visible show of support and solidarity.
In addition to honoring his service, the day will include family-friendly activities such as bounce houses, free food and drinks, and an ice cream truck.

If you are critical of the policies implemented in Los Angeles over the last 6-7 years, that doesnβt make you a βRepublicanβ or a βDemocrat.β That doesnβt make you βpro-Trumpβ or βanti-Trump.β That doesnβt even mean you are making a political statement. Some of us like LA, this is our home and we want it to be better & safer. Thatβs it.
Some of us are raising our children here and want them to be safe. We want better schools. We want safer neighborhoods. We want more affordable housing. We donβt support defunding the police. We never did. We are pro-family. We donβt support GascΓ³n or any politician who is pro-criminal and doesnβt care about victims. We are not concerned about the murderer. We are concerned about the lives lost and their families. We are tired of our high gas prices and ever increasing taxes. We just want home owners insurance even if we live in Santa Clarita or Antelope Valley, or other βhighβ fire areas. We want our first responders to be safe and supported. We donβt believe any law protecting someone here illegally who is also committing crimes against innocent people is a good policy-itβs pandering and wrong. Laws are supposed to protect law abiding people. That isnβt controversial. Public safety doesnβt mean protecting the criminal over a child.
We believe in compassionate treatment, not open air drug markets. It took us to 2025 and the last state in the nation to finally give a tax break for veterans retirement. We care about our veterans. We never supported $0 bail. We also never supported keeping children out of school for almost 2 years. That was child abuse. And, most of us donβt support looting, vandalism or blocking freeways preventing people from getting to work, school, home, to their children or to medical appointments. We want businesses to be safe and to thrive. And if you want us to rely on public transportation, it must be safe.
All of the above are common sense, reasonable, normal things for any parent, really any person to want. If people want to leave bc of the above-America is so great, there are many places to go. I respect that. If people want to stay and want to make LA better, like Roxanne and I, I respect that as well. We need you. We will keep fighting on.

Last night, in New York City, an incredible CBP Officer was shot in the face by an Illegal Alien Monster freed into the Country under Joe Biden. He was apprehended at the Border in April 2023 but, instead of being deported, was RELEASED. The CBP Officer bravely fought off his attacker, despite his wounds, demonstrating enormous Skill and Courage. The Democrats have flooded our Nation with Criminal Invaders, and now, they must all be thrown out or, in some cases, immediately prosecuted in that we cannot take a chance that they are able to come back. Thatβs how evil and dangerous they are!
