Indiana: A Mishawaka police officer and two other drivers are recovering from their injuries after a crash on Wednesday evening.

Police say it happened just before 5:45 p.m. while the officer was en route to a call with lights and sirens on.

As he was entering the intersection of Grape Road and Douglas Road, he was reportedly hit by another car on his passenger side, causing a chain reaction crash.

The officer and two other drivers were taken to local hospitals with minor injuries.

An officer in Levittown, NY was injured during an arrest when a man became violent and combative.

It was a routine call—but like so many, it turned dangerous fast. This is the reality our officers face every day: unpredictable threats and the very real risk of injury.

Officers were called to a Levittown home for a disturbance around 4:10 p.m., police said. The officers were informed that an argument between Tucker Hahn, 28, and another man, 34, escalated into a fight, police said. Hahn struck the other man's phone, police said.
Officers tried to place Hahn in custody when he became "violent and combative," causing an officer to suffer an injury to his arm, police said. Hahn was placed under arrest and transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation and treatment, police sasaid

The injured officer was also transported to a local hospital for treatment, police said.

Update on LMPD Officer Nick Wilt, July 14th, 2025
Nick has come a long way, but he will continue to heal for the rest of his life. Nick continues his recovery, although progress is slow, he is always dedicated to his continued therapy at UofL Health - Frazier Rehabilitation Institute and in-home brain games.

In early 2024, Nick has been walking independently with the assistance of a cane. By around September, he rarely needed the cane. He will still move carefully, as his left leg is weaker, but it’s a huge milestone for him to be walking at all.
Due to his injury, he has what doctors call “left side neglect.” Meaning, at times, he doesn’t know there is a whole world on his left side. His left arm/hand still has minimal function despite electrode therapy daily, and PT/OT are working on it twice a week. He has gained a fair amount of strength in retracting his arm, but pushing/extending it is still challenging. He is required to wear a brace at night to help keep his left fist open and fingers separated.
Doctors are still working on managing ongoing complications such as seizures, nerve damage, and near-daily intense headaches. Nick requires daily assistance with activities and other daily tasks, but has improved in many areas. Cognitively, we’ve seen improvements here, too, and arguably funnier than he was before his injury. He will sometimes need assistance making decisions for himself, holding conversations, and will elaborate on details when “queued” to do so. We call these leaving breadcrumbs, something that will help him in conversations.

All things considered, Nick is a walking miracle and continues to love life and everyone. He’s eager to continue healing so he can return to his everyday life. He looks forward to living back in his own house and getting on with his life. He loves counting his daily steps from his smart watch and sharing them with friends at the fire department. Yes, he will often beat me in my step count.
Nick is doing more than ever imagined and still surprises the therapist and doctors nearly every session. We all continue to pray for health, happiness, safety, and continued healing. All of which have been continuously answered, and to this day, we still see miracles happen. Something we wish the world could see. Nick is strong-willed and, as we’ve said since day 1, He. Never. Backs.
