Chinese state media have called a Hong Kong policeman a hero after footage and images of him pointing a gun at protesters caused controversy. The clash took place on July 30 outside Kwai Chung police station when protesters gathered to show support for dozens of activists who had been arrested and charged with rioting. Beijing's state broadcaster CCTV lauded the policeman's dedication and professionalism in dealing with the chaos. A female anchor gave him a thumbs-up while saying ''Lau Sir, we support you!' 👮🏻‍♂️
Americans are spending as much as $5,000 on their daily commutes every year, a new data map has revealed. The stats were compiled using government data and firm HowMuch.net added together the cost of gas, maintenance, public transportation, and other expenses. However, the annual cost of commuting varies widely depending on what state you live in. North Dakota had the most expensive commute, costing on average $5,059.113. On the other end of the scale, West Virginia had the cheapest, with people spending $2,003.812 on their annual commute. This map reveals the annual cost of commuting for Americans in every state in the country
An earthquake with an estimated magnitude of 6.0 has hit western Turkey, damaging homes and causing some injuries. The quake was centred on the town of Bozkurt, in Denizli province, which lies just over 100 miles from tourist hotspot Marmaris. Scores of buildings are said to have been damaged and there are reports of people running into the streets in panic. The Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency said the quake had a preliminary magnitude of 6.0 and struck at 2.25pm local time. 😱

2 women stabbed, 1 fatally, in 'random' attack at Pittsburgh bus stop. Authorities say a man fatally stabbed a woman who was talking to a police officer at a downtown Pittsburgh bus stop and then slashed another woman before he was taken into custody. Pittsburgh Police Chief Scott Schubert says the officer was checking on the first woman's well-being Thursday on a crowded sidewalk full of office workers and others headed to lunch. A man came up from behind him and stabbed her. He then stabbed the other woman. Schubert says the officer immediately took the man into custody and applied first aid to the first woman. She later died. The second victim suffered minor injuries.😱
Three people have died after the small plane they were in crashed into the backyard of a suburban Philadelphia home. The single-engine plane went down around 6.20am on Thursday in Willow Grove shortly after taking off from Northeast Philadelphia Airport. Everyone onboard, including one man and two women, were killed. ✈️😱

Homestead, Florida, police officer Lester Brown was arrested after a jail surveillance video caught him shoving inmate Jose Garcia, head-first, into a wall, authorities said. Brown, in his version of the incident, alleges that Garcia was falling forward and that the two men pushed up against each other when the inmate struck the wall head on.👮🏻‍♂️
