Today, with a heavy heart, I joined so many others in honoring the life and sacrifice of Baldwin Park Police Officer Samuel Riveros.

As Sheriff of Los Angeles County, I was deeply moved by the outpouring of love and respect shown for a young man who gave everything in service to his community. Officer Riveros represented the very best of what it means to wear the badge, courage, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to protecting others.

His loss is felt not only by his family and the Baldwin Park Police Department but by our entire law enforcement family across Los Angeles County. We will remember Samuel not just for how he died, but for how he lived with heart, integrity, and honor.

On behalf of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, I offer my deepest condolences and continued support to his loved ones. May his memory forever remind us of the true meaning of service.

On Thursday June 26, 2025 Houston County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Weston Reeves was involved in a major traffic accident on Hwy 287 North at FM 2423 (Lockout Road). It appears at this time that a vehicle on FM 2423 disregarded the stop sign and struck Deputy Reeves’ patrol truck causing it to spin and roll over at least once. Deputy Reeves was taken by ambulance to the hospital in Crockett as a precautionary measure. The other driver was attended to at the scene and released. Texas DPS Troopers are investigating the accident per our policy. We are thankful nobody was seriously injured and both drivers will recover quickly. I would like to thank Grapeland EMS, Grapeland Fire Department, Grapeland Police Department and Texas DPS for their response and assistance to our deputy and our office. I would also like to thank the Crockett Police Department for their assistance in covering calls for our deputies as they tended to the accident scene and their fellow deputy.

Great job by Englewood Police Department, Colorado’s Officer Daleigh. After finishing her grocery shopping, this person was feeling lost and disoriented. Officer Daleigh gently helped her find a place to rest and figure out where she lived. Officer Stoeber then made sure she and her groceries got home safely. Well done.

UPDATE: On Thursday, June 26, 2025, at approximately 9:22 p.m., Milwaukee Police Department officers were dispatched to the area of the N. 25th Street and W. Garfield Avenue for a subject with a weapon. The call was updated that the suspect was firing shots.

While approaching, they were unexpectedly fired upon in the alley of the 2200 block of N. 24th Place. The officers were both struck and not able to return fire.

One of the officers, a 32-year-old male with over 6-years of service, was transported to a hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries. He is in critical condition.

The second officer, a 29-year-old male with over 6-years of service, was transported to a hospital for treatment of non-fatal injuries. He is in stable condition.

We are seeking a known suspect.

This is a fluid and ongoing investigation. The Milwaukee Police Homicide Unit will be investigating this incident.

We appreciate the Milwaukee Fire Department and the staff at Froedtert that provided medical care to our officers.

We are also thankful of all of our responding members here today, and for all of our officers who put their lives on the line every day for this City. We are grateful for the assistance of the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office and all other assisting law enforcement agencies.

EXCLUSIVE: The suspect who is in custody after shooting and badly injuring two Milwaukee Police officers near 24th and Garfield is a 22-year-old man who was armed with a rifle.

Just two months ago, the suspect was given a deferred prosecution agreement on charges of vehicle theft and obstructing an officer from 2021, meaning said charges were dismissed and the suspect would only be punished if he violated the terms of that agreement. He obviously did.

Notably, the suspect was given this deal even after he failed to show up even after not one but TWO bench warrants for failing to show up for court appearances during the nearly four years the case was in the court system.

Oh, and the judge who originally signed off on a deferred prosecution agreement in 2023? Hannah Dugan, who now faces federal charges for helping a violent illegal alien evade ICE by sneaking him out of her courtroom through the jury exit.

A PIT maneuver ended the pursuit. The driver, Jesus Yair Hernandez Rojas—an illegal immigrant from Mexico—fled on foot but was no match for our troopers and was quickly arrested. He’s charged with 4 counts of smuggling of persons & evading arrest.

Passenger Eviel De Jesus Zamudio—also an illegal immigrant from Mexico & the smuggling guide—was arrested & charged with 3 counts of smuggling of persons.

3 illegal immigrants were found inside the vehicle & referred to U.S. Border Patrol.
