As summer officially begins today and many families start planning for vacations, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department wants to remind everyone to take a few simple precautions to help prevent becoming a victim of crime:

Secure Your Home
•Ensure all doors and windows are locked, don’t forget the upper floors.
•Keep garage doors fully closed at all times, even when you’re home

Enhance Your Security
•Install security cameras covering the front and rear of your property.

Be Cautious at the Door
•Do not open your door to strangers.
•If someone claims to have an emergency and asks for help, tell them you will call 911 if you feel unsafe in opening your door.

Build Community Awareness
•Get to know your neighbors, you can be each other’s eyes and ears while away.

Stay Alert
•If you see something, say something! Report any suspicious activity to local law enforcement.

Wishing you a safe and enjoyable summer!
