Thousands of protesters took to Hong Kong's streets again today for two new demonstrations after police fired tear gas at the crowds last night. The Chinese-controlled city has been rocked by months of protests against a proposed bill to allow people to be extradited to stand trial in mainland China. Adding to the tensions, a general strike aimed at bringing the city to a halt is planned for tomorrow and hundreds of the people marching today were heard calling for this to happen. Police said in a statement early on Sunday that they had arrested more than 20 people for offences overnight including unlawful assembly and assault. #retract

The sister of the Ohio gunman and her boyfriend have been found shot dead in a car just hours after the 24-year-old opened fire in a crowded bar, killing nine and injuring 27 others in less than a minute. Dayton authorities identified the gunman as Connor Betts (left), who was wearing body armor when he gunned down patrons at the Ned Peppers Bar (inset left) in the Oregon District of Dayton, Ohio, around 1am on Sunday. Officers arrived to the scene immediately, and were able to 'put an end to it quickly', Lt Col Matt Carper said at a press conference. Betts, of Bellbrook, was identified as the suspect around noon.
