On June 12, 2025, at 4:08 p.m., team HCSO deputies received information from the Miami Police Department indicating that a suspect wanted for murder was believed to be in Hillsborough County.

Hamilton County Sheriff's Office, Ohio Corporal J. Schaefer was working his assigned duty when he had an episode where he briefly dazed off and was unable to talk or respond.
Thankfully, the incident occurred while he was near a fellow officer. Corporal Schaefer snapped out of it and felt rather normal, and finished his shift with no other symptoms. After persistent nagging by his close friends - he finally went to the hospital to get checked out.
The checkup unfortunately didnโt go as expected, and there was a large tumor on his brain. He was then admitted to Good Samaritan Hospital for further testing and monitoring. An MRI was conducted and surgery was scheduled. Corporal Schaefer underwent brain surgery. After testing, the tumor was confirmed to be stage 2 cancer. Corporal Schaefer is currently recovering at home as the neuro team prepares for rigorous treatment.
He is surrounded by his wife, children, family, and close friends as he prepares for the next phase of recovery.
Please join us in sending prayers and, or positive thoughts for his recovery.๐๐ป
