ICYMI: Yesterday, the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office, NM, held a press conference to highlight the work of its Behavioral Health Unit and announce a new initiative designed to address critical service gaps in the community. The initiative aims to enhance BCSO’s ability to respond to individuals experiencing behavioral health crises, particularly among vulnerable populations, including youth.

During the press conference, BCSO leadership and members of the Behavioral Health Unit shared insights into the unit’s mission, current services available to families throughout Albuquerque, and
A recent juvenile case was discussed as a key example of the ongoing challenges that law enforcement are facing.

On February 16, 2025, deputies responded to an alarming situation involving two young children—ages 7 and 9—armed with a loaded firearm. Utilizing BCSO’s drone program, deputies were able to monitor the situation in real-time, providing critical updates and enhancing situational awareness. This technology allowed deputies to secure the area swiftly and safely, ultimately preventing a potential deadly force encounter with the juveniles.

BCSO would also like to highlight the value of its drone program, which continues to prove instrumental in providing deputies with additional tools to manage diverse and high-risk situations. Technology, training, and specialized units like Behavioral Health are key to ensuring safer outcomes for all involved.

BCSO remains committed to improving response efforts for individuals in crisis. Today’s initiative represents a critical step in building stronger, community-focused behavioral health services and enhancing our mission of protecting and serving the residents of Bernalillo County.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Honors the Life and Service of Sergeant Christopher M. Bracks – End of Watch: May 10, 2022

On May 10, 2022, while participating in the National Police Week Unity Tour in New Jersey, Sergeant Christopher M. Bracks tragically passed away following a medical emergency. Sergeant Bracks was a devoted husband, father, friend, Marine, and a proud 16-year veteran of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

He began his distinguished career as a deputy on April 12, 2006, and faithfully served in various assignments, including Twin Towers Correctional Facility, Lakewood Station, the COPS Bureau, and Transit Services Bureau. He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant on July 24, 2016, serving at Twin Towers Correctional Facility and later at the Walnut/Diamond Bar Station—his final assignment.

Prior to his service with our department, Sergeant Bracks honorably served six years in the United States Marine Corps. He will always be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his country, and his community—as a loving husband and father, a proud veteran, and a respected and courageous peace officer.

The Police Unity Tour is a four-day bicycle ride from New Jersey to Washington, D.C., held to raise public awareness about law enforcement officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. It is a powerful tradition in which officers from across the nation unite to ensure their legacy is never forgotten.

We remain deeply grateful for Sergeant Bracks’ service, and we honor his memory with the utmost respect and admiration.

An Idaho State Police trooper and another driver were injured in a collision in Idaho Falls Friday night.

It happened around 10 p.m. on Yellowstone Highway and Pancheri Drive as the trooper was in pursuit of a different vehicle than the one it collided with, said Sgt. Bryan Lovell with the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office.

Initially, the trooper attempted to stop a vehicle associated with a felony warrant, but the suspect fled at a high rate of speed, avoiding multiple spike strips during the ISP pursuit.

It was during that chase when both the trooper and the other driver were injured. The trooper was treated and released on the scene, and the other driver was taken to a nearby hospital. Both are believed to have sustained only minor injuries.

Please join us in sending prayers and, or, positive thoughts for their recovery. 🙏🏻

According to the Idaho State Police, "the suspect vehicle was not apprehended, and the individual remains at large."

As the LASD Family passed through Delaware Township on the 2025 police unity tour, they stopped to remember the profound loss our Department endured three years ago when Sergeant Christopher M. Bracks suffered a sudden medical emergency and tragically passed away.

Thanks to the heartfelt efforts of the Delaware Township Police, the Hunterdon County PBA, and a community of dedicated supporters, a beautiful memorial was built in Sgt. Bracks’ honor. Their commitment to maintaining this tribute ensures that his legacy continues.

It was profoundly moving to see state and local law enforcement officers, firefighters, and our brothers and sisters from the Police Unity Tour come together to honor Sgt. Bracks and show their continued support to his family. His memory remains a source of strength and unity for us all.
