NEW: Four are dead and several are hospitalized after a “panga boat” overturned and washed ashore this morning at Torrey Pines State Beach in San Diego County, California.

The coast guard was initially searching for 9 individuals who were reportedly on the boat.

“There were estimated to be about 18 people on the beach, so we upgraded this to a major medical response due the number of potential victims that we had on the beach with this boat…” Jorge Sanchez, deputy fire chief with the Encinitas Fire Department said. He added that they cannot confirm if it was a suspected human smuggling ehuman

Please, pray for the Muskegon Heights Police officer who was shot in the line of duty this morning. 🙏🏻

Michigan: Police have confirmed that a Muskegon Heights officer was shot and injured Monday, May 5.

The shooting is believed to have occurred about 7:35 a.m. in the 2300 block of Baker Street, near East Barney Avenue.

Muskegon Heights Police Chief Maurice Sain told WOODTV that the officer’s injury was not life-threatening.

Police said they expect to release more information on the shooting later today.

New York: A Monroe County Sheriff's deputy was injured after deputies seized several balloons filled with contraband from an incarcerated individual.

According to MCSO, deputies conducted a search of 33-year-old Scott Lamagna after receiving a credible tip that he was in possession of contraband. Lamagna was found to be in possession of four large balloons containing synthetic cannabinoids and tobacco.

When Lamagna was being transported to Central Booking, MCSO said he became uncooperative and tried to pull away from deputies and tipped a deputy by entangling his leg with the deputies’ leg.

MCSO said the deputy fell backwards, fracturing his arm and wrist. The deputy was transported to a local hospital for treatment and may require surgery.
