Our city Hollywood, first shot is our local harm reduction center & encampment 900 N Western Ave, then a blocks long encampment that's been here for years on Sierra Vista/Oxford, then our unusable bus benches Melrose/Vine.

In the past 24 hours, Skid Row has suffered from two serious incidents that ended in tragedy.  Both incidents of similar circumstances where as if people would have just “STEPPED AWAY” could have resulted in lives being saved.

Unfortunately, they did not.  One person succumb to stabbing injuries and the other person is recovering from a shooting injury.

✨ May The 4th Be With You… and your driving skills!

So far, just rain and no snow over Donner Summit which is great, because that means we don’t have to worry about THESE guys! We already knew Stormtroopers can’t shoot straight… and now we know they can’t fly in the snow/rain either 💥

Roads are a little wet this May 4th, so take it easy out there. Stay alert, avoid distractions, and don’t follow the Dark Side (or too closely behind the car in front of  you) Be safe, Rebels!

Calling all Star Wars fans! Remember Yoda's wise words: "Do or do not. There is no try."

In traffic safety, it's about doing, not just trying.  Success in safe driving is crucial - effort alone won't cut it!

FLASHBACK FRIDAY: Dispatcher Victoria Ragsdale 💙

Serving in the 1980s with the Plantation Police Department in Florida, Victoria Ragsdale was the calm voice in the chaos—the lifeline between officers and safety.

Here’s to the ones behind the scenes who’ve always had our backs.

Even in a galaxy far, far away, safety comes first. Whether you’re piloting a starfighter or just heading to work, always obey traffic laws, watch out for your fellow rebels, and keep the Dark Side in check.

Our deputies may not carry lightsabers, but we’re always here to serve and protect. Stay safe out there and remember: The Force is strong with those who follow the law!

Happy Star Wars Day from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
