πβ FACT CHECKING:
A viral video circulating online has led to inaccurate claims, including the allegation that a CCSO deputy arrested a child. That claim is simply not true, and we want to provide clarity, transparency, and important context.
Here are the facts:
βοΈ On April 1, 2025, around 7:15 p.m., a deputy saw someone walking across NE 99th Street near I-5βa busy intersection with no crosswalk and moving traffic. Concerned the person could be hit by a carβor cause a crash that could injure othersβthe deputy pulled over to check on the person, initially believing they might be a child.
βοΈ Upon contact, the individual provided a name that did not return any records. After further investigation, the deputy identified her as a 27-year-old woman by matching her to prior booking photos.
βοΈ She was not arrested. She was briefly detained while the deputy determined her identity, then given a verbal warning for walking in traffic and released.
We thank those who reached out sincerely to learn the truth. We encourage the public to be cautious about what they see online and not to jump to conclusions based on incomplete or misleading information. Donβt believe everything you read online.
