Update: A manhunt is underway after a Fulton County deputy was injured in a drive-by shooting in downtown Atlanta on Thursday evening, according to the Atlanta Police Department (APD).

The Fulton County Sheriff’s Office and APD said the shooting happened near the intersection of Forsyth Street and Trinity Avenue.

Atlanta police said they responded to the intersection around 5:43 p.m. after receiving a call about a fellow law enforcement officer needing help.

Officers found the deputy with a gunshot wound. The deputy was alert, conscious and breathing, and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Fulton County Sheriff Patrick Labat says his deputy was shot in the lower body and is stable, with his family by his side as he recovers at Grady Memorial Hospital.

NEW: A Norwalk man was arrested in Pacific Palisades for allegedly stealing $5,000 worth of copper from a job site, according to the CHP West Valley Area Office.

On April 23 at around 4 p.m., a CHP sergeant conducted a traffic stop on a white pickup truck for expired registration on Pacific Coast Highway, east of Sunset Boulevard.

The rear of the truck was loaded with approximately 1,000 pounds of copper, valued at approximately $5,000, authorities said.

NEW: A medical helicopter flipped and burst into flames during a nighttime training exercise in Hartford, Illinois this evening.

The Arch Medical chopper reportedly clipped a tree while attempting takeoff around 9 PM, causing it to flip and ignite. Witnesses spotted two individuals escaping the burning aircraft.

Emergency crews rushed to the scene, rescuing two people and battling the blaze. The crash occurred in Madison County, with first responders arriving within minutes.

No official word yet on injuries as authorities continue their investigation.
