Severe weather threat ends Monday. Thunderstorms still possible in the Midwest. Some snow develops in northern Wisconsin and in the Wyoming mountains.

Our thoughts are with the Rockford Illinois Police Department after one of their K9 officers was shot and injured during a traffic stop near a gas station on Saturday. 🙏🏽

According to officials, a suspect opened fire, hitting the K9 in the paw and shoulder. The brave pup was rushed to an emergency vet and is now recovering. Thankfully, a full recovery is expected. Wishing this four-legged hero a speedy healing!

Yesterday, Officer Gourdine, Officer Hardgrove, and K9 Jesus visited Wonder Play Cafe for their “Inspiring Hands” event, where they had the chance to connect with the next generation of community members.

The event brought local community helpers like police officers, firefighters, veterinarians, doctors, nurses, and teachers together to inspire children with the important work they do. Officer Gourdine, Officer Hardgrove, and K9 Jesus shared a story, provided valuable safety tips, and introduced K9 Jesus, giving the kids a hands-on experience with their furry partner in crime-fighting.

The day was filled with fun activities including police-themed crafts, a sensory bin, and exciting police play-themed activities that kept the children engaged while learning about the people who help keep them safe.

We are so proud to continue building positive relationships within our community, one child at a time!

Happy Easter, everyone! God is Good.🤗

BREAKING: A Louisiana prosecutor said he will seek the death penalty against a man who brutally killed a Las Vegas woman and her 12-year-old daughter in 2010 — and whose federal death sentence was commuted by then-President Joe Biden during Biden’s final weeks in office.

“Initially, I was disappointed in President Biden’s decision to commute the sentence of Mr. Sanders. I took office in 2009, so I was here and deferred to the federal government to prosecute Mr. Sanders at that time. When his sentence was commuted, I gathered as much information as I could from our local authorities, got the transcripts from the federal trial, and presented all of that information to the grand jury.”

Update: An investigation is underway after chainsaw-wielding vandals apparently chopped down several trees in downtown Los Angeles over the weekend.

Pictures of the downed trees circulated on social media, showing the hacked trees along South Grand Avenue between First Street and Wilshire Boulevard.

A spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department told City News Service on Sunday that the watch commander had no knowledge of the incidents or of a report being taken, and that police were not reviewing footage at this time.
