100 Days Later: Drone video shows Palisades Fire burn area (April 2025)

New drone video from KCAL News shows the latest view from above of Pacific Palisades, more than three months after the Palisades Fire wiped out much of the coastal community.

NEW: A 19-year-old from Redlands was arrested after allegedly causing a deadly four-car collision in downtown Riverside on April 16 that killed 37-year-old Christian Barragan and injured five others.

Police say Isaac Isaiah Villalba was speeding southbound on Market Street when he rear-ended Barragan’s Honda Civic, then struck another car before coming to a stop.

Justice for Detective Joseph Azcona

The 14-year-old gang member charged with the murder of Newark Police Detective Joseph Azcona will be tried as an adult in federal court, according to U.S. Attorney for New Jersey Alina Habba. This decision ensures the severity of this crime is met with the full weight of the law.

Detective Azcona, just 26 years old, was ambushed before he could even exit his vehicle while working to keep his community safe. He made the ultimate sacrifice in service to the people of Newark.

We will never stop fighting for justice for our fallen heroes. Our thoughts remain with Detective Azcona’s family, friends, and fellow officers.

Officer Ronald Milligan has retired from the City of Parma Police Department after 25 years of service. Well done Brother.

Los Angeles: On March 14, 2025, around 10:20 pm, Southeast Patrol Division uniformed officers observed a vehicle driving erratically and conducted a traffic stop on Imperial Highway, east of Broadway. From behind their vehicle doors, the officers ordered the driver, later identified as 35-year-old Mario Sanchez, to lower his windows and to place his hands outside his vehicle. Sanchez yelled profanity at the officers and, moments later, exited his driver’s door. Sanchez faced the officers, removed a dark object from his waistband area, and quickly pointed it at them, resulting in an Officer-Involved Shooting (OIS). Sanchez was struck by gunfire and collapsed in the roadway. Upon the arrival of additional units, an arrest team was formed, and Sanchez was taken into custody.

Officers rendered medical aid to Sanchez until the arrival of Los Angeles Fire Department personnel, who after assuming care, transported him to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

No officers or other community members were injured during this incident.

The object Sanchez pointed at the officers at the time of the OIS was later determined to be a cellphone.

Force Investigation Division (FID) investigators along with representatives from the California Department of Justice (DOJ) responded to the scene and are investigating this incident
