Last week, CHP Antelope Valley units assisted CHP Southern Division’s K9 team during an enforcement stop near Lake Los Angeles. Indicators of criminal activity led to the deployment of K9 “JD,” whose alert resulted in the discovery of approximately 50,000 suspected fentanyl pills.

Two suspects were taken into custody.

Outstanding teamwork—and a K9 nose that knows.

Early Sunday morning, our officers were conducting a DUI investigation on Main Street when a second impaired driver crashed into two of our patrol vehicles. One of the patrol cars had the initial DUI suspect inside at the time—fortunately, they were not injured.

The two officers on scene were transported to Bozeman Health for evaluation. While they're expected to be okay, they’re understandably shaken. We’re grateful for their strength and resilience—and for the care provided by Bozeman Fire, AMR Bozeman Montana and Bozeman Health.

Montana Highway Patrol responded and led the second DUI investigation. The driver admitted to drinking, had an open vodka Red Bull in the car, and blew a .156 BAC. She was arrested and charged with three felony counts of criminal endangerment—one for each officer and one for the original DUI suspect.

Traffic stops are unpredictable and can quickly become dangerous. This incident is a clear reminder of the risks our officers face in the line of duty.

There is no excuse to drive drunk. It’s not worth the risk. Call a friend, call a ride, or make a plan before you drink.

To our officers: thank you for your courage, your quick response, and your continued commitment to keeping Bozeman safe. 💙

SWATTING is deadly serious. The potential for serious injury or death is high.
I’ve asked our team to double efforts to locate the people and/or groups behind it. I’m on the road in our field offices handling other sensitive matters but I’ll be monitoring progress and I hope to have some updates soon.
