Three separate shootings over the weekend in LA’s Green Meadows neighborhood left two people dead and one critically injured, all within a mile of each other, according to LAPD.

A 13-year-old girl was shot inside her home Friday night and later died at the hospital. On Saturday, a 31-year-old woman was fatally shot on South San Pedro Street, and early Sunday morning, a man was critically wounded in a drive-by shooting.

Police have not confirmed whether the shootings are connected, and no arrests have been made.

Jonathan A. Barajas Nava, 37, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, was sentenced in Los Angeles today to 51 months in federal prison for setting a San Bernardino County church and preschool on fire last year while children and school employees were inside.

Vermont: A police officer was injured when an arrest went awry in Colchester.

Police say on Sunday night, they recognized a wanted man, Joshua Burgess, 40, of Milton, at a gas station.

With multiple warrants for his arrest, police tried to take him into custody.

Police say he drove away, and when they caught him, Burgess allegedly grabbed and fired the officer’s Taser.

Another Colchester officer arrived on the scene and pepper-sprayed Burgess before arresting him.
