Prayers for the Pottstown Police officer who was shot in the line of duty tonight. 🙏🏻

A gunman involved in a crash shot a police officer in the shoulder, leading to a standoff in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, that lasted for hours Sunday evening, officials said.

Pottstown police first responded to a crash involving two vehicles on Beech and North Mount Vernon streets at 5:06 p.m., according to investigators.

A man who was involved in the crash then tried to grab a gun inside one of the vehicles, leading to a struggle between him and the responding officers, Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele wrote in a released statement Sunday night.

The unidentified man then fled on foot to his home on Winding Road as the officers chased after him, Steele said. The man then pulled out a gun and fired at the pursuing officers, according to investigators. One of the officers was then shot in the shoulder. That officer was taken to a nearby hospital in stable condition and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Michigan: On Sunday, April 6, 2025, at approximately 4:00 pm, a passing motorist contacted the Ingham 911 Center reporting a man walking the wrong way on the highway creating a hazard, along US127 near Barnes Road, in Vevay Township.

Several police personnel arrived on scene and observed the previously described man on the freeway in moving traffic. Personnel contacted him; he was non-compliant and soon after produced multiple knives. De-escalation efforts continued for several minutes. During this intervention, the man was shot by police personnel.

Life-saving efforts were initiated but were unsuccessful. There is no ongoing threat to the public, however, US127 will be closed in the area of Barnes Road until further notice.

NEW: Louisiana man suspected of killing his parents arrested in Los Angeles.

The 34-year-old man was arrested on Friday and was allegedly in possession of several loaded firearms and body armor, according to Los Angeles County deputies.

NY: Four people, including a Suffolk County police officer, were injured Sunday afternoon when a police car hit an SUV on Walt Whitman Road in Huntington Station.

The department said that the police car struck the rear of a southbound 2020 Honda SUV that had stopped at a yellow light in front of 301 Walt Whitman Road at 4:52 p.m. Three adults in the SUV and the officer were taken to Huntington Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

A Massachusetts State Police trooper was injured after a cruiser crashed into a utility pole on Cape Cod, state police said.

The crash happened in the town of Harwich, just before 7 a.m. Sunday.

The trooper was driving near the area of 973 Orleans Harwich Road when the cruiser crashed into the utility pole. Police say an initial investigation shows the car hydroplaned due to wet road conditions Sunday morning.

The trooper was taken to a hospital for evaluation and was later released.

Ohio: Chester Township police say an officer was hurt Wednesday after a driver crashed into their cruiser.

The crash happened around 8:30 p.m. at the intersection of Wilson Mills and Caves roads.
Police video shows the officer has a green light as they approach the intersection.

The other driver, operating a Chrysler PT Cruiser, drove through a red light and slammed into the cop car, according to the video.

Officers say after the crash, both people were treated and released from Hillcrest Hospital.
