Three Riverside County sheriff's deputies suffered minor injuries trying to subdue a fleeing defendant who refused to be handcuffed during a chaotic scuffle at the courtroom.

Ryan James Chalfant, 31, attempted to flee the Riverside County Hall of Justice after refusing to be handcuffed during his arraignment hearing Friday, Riverside County sheriff's officials said.

A court deputy followed him out of the courtroom, where two additional deputies saw him and joined the pursuit, said department spokesperson Sgt. Wenndy Brito-Gonzalez. All three deputies wound up with minor injuries while attempting to apprehend Chalfant and were transported to a local hospital, she said.

A speeding Lamborghini slammed into a Toyota, killing a woman and critically injuring a man.

The violent crash happened in Hancock Park early Monday. Firefighters freed the Toyota’s occupants; the female died at the hospital, while the male is in critical condition. The Lambo driver? Florida: A West Palm Beach Police officer was hospitalized after getting into a car accident Tuesday afternoon.

According to the West Palm Beach Police Department (WPBPD), the officer was driving northbound on Congress Avenue responding to an armed disturbance, with lights and sirens activated, when they crashed into a vehicle going eastbound on Executive Center Drive at around 4:45 p.m. Tuesday.

The crash sent the other driver into a pole and an unoccupied parked vehicle along the 400 block of Congress Avenue. The driver reported no injuries.

The officer was transported to St. Mary's Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Arizona: Four people suffered critical injuries in a two-vehicle crash involving a school bus on Interstate 10 westbound near Tangerine Road in Marana on Tuesday, April 1.

Arizona DPS said a small SUV and bus from the Kingman Unified School District were involved in the accident around 1:40 p.m. and that the bus ended up on its side.

The driver of the SUV was arrested, but the charges have not been released. The bus was carrying around 36 students and four adults -- the bus driver and three chaperones.

Three students and one adult from the bus were transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

Culver City police unveil new sirens for emergency alert system.

Luzdelia Caballero reports from Culver City, where she learns more about the police department's newest Hi-Lo siren, which they say will be a part of their newest emergency alert system.

In the early morning hours of October 10th, 2024, deputies were dispatched to a stabbing. As the suspect was being detained by other deputies, Deputies Corado and found the victim suffering from a serious stab wound to his chest.

Corado and Valencia worked together to provide the victim with life-saving treatment. They applied a chest seal, and treated the victim for shock as they prepared him for the arrival of medical personnel.

The victim was airlifted to a nearby trauma center for emergency surgery. According to the physicians, the victim would not have survived without the prompt and effective care provided by Corado and Valencia.
